A visit to the Drakensberg Mountains offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy breathtaking scenery while taking on a moderate hiking trail suitable for most fitness levels. Surrounded by rolling green hills, towering peaks, and crystal-clear streams, the Drakensberg provides a serene escape into nature. It’s an unforgettable way to connect with the natural beauty of one of South Africa’s most iconic mountain ranges.
A visit to Howick Falls, located in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, showcases one of South Africa’s most dramatic waterfalls, plunging approximately 95 meters into a deep gorge. Surrounded by lush greenery and scenic walking trails, the falls offer breathtaking views, perfect for photography or simply taking in the natural beauty. Local legends and rich history add cultural significance, making Howick Falls both a spectacular and meaningful stop on any Midlands tour.
A visit to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site near Howick provides a poignant insight into South Africa’s struggle for freedom. The site commemorates the place where Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s history. This tour was very interesting and educational. Unfortunately the weather was not on my side and the rain took over. So there was no view of the Drachensberg Mountains. Howick falls were spectacular and Nelson Mandela Museum very interesting. My guide Mzweh was very good and friendly. Enjoyed my day. I had a few question prior to my tour and they were all answered quickly and I also was given a telephone number of my guide so I or he could contact me. Very impressed. Recommend this tour and company.
A very beautiful experience in Drakensberg Mountains. definitely some of the most beautiful scenery on earth. The mountains, the valleys, the vegetation, quite out of this world those views.
Hours in a small “private car” and hardly any time to see Drakenberg. Drakenberg is certainly worth seeing but not on a day of Durban. The relationship between riding, being stuck in traffic and hobbling over detours to the actual hike in Dralenberg is not right. We had to cancel the last 3 goals after the first goal at the end, as it was too long.
The fact that client felt that Drakensberg is far does not justify negative review. All tour companies in Durban offer similar tours to Drakensberg and other people really enjoy the tour.
We really enjoyed the Drakensberg Mountains, they are breathtaking and so beautiful! The hike was on a perfect weather day, not too hot or cold, blue skies and white puffy clouds. Our guide on the hike was excellent and knowledgable. Our driver was great to get us to all of the spots safe and sound. We equally enjoyed the Nelson Mandela Capture Site and Howick Falls.
I visited the Drakensburg mountains in south africa recently. We met up with various family members for a weekend and had a fantastic time.My accomodation was superp overlooking the valley and the drakensburg sun hotel below. The scenery was brilliant. It is such a calm and peacefull place and you can notice the fresh air all around. On the last day whilst having breakfast, a family of zebras came to our front lawn to feed on the grass! What an amazing experience this was and will be cherished forever. South Africa is generally such a wonderful place to visit and with the strong pound and other European currencies, it is great value for money. Will definately visit again.
The Drakensberg Mountains is certainly one of the World Heritage Sites, a beautiful place to visit and see on the Drakensberg Mountains and Nelson Mandela Capture Site Full Day Safari
A perfect day in the Deakensberg Mountains, such nice hiking. This was the Drakensberg Mountains & Nelson Mandela Capture Site Full Day Safari
The Drakensberg Mountains & Nelson Mandela Capture Site Full Day Safari tour was really amazing. The Drakensberg, one of the most beautiful that we have ever seen
Avoid African Sun safaris. They did not arrive on time and when contacted were dismissive and unhelpful. When a guide finally arrived, we started on the tour 21/2 hours later which meant we were chasing the clock all day. The guide, Brian, called in on his day off, saved the day and did a good job. The money paid does not correspond with the service provided. Considering all the positive experiences we had in S A, this company was a did. Bev O'Connell
Though a long drive from the Port of Durban to Drakensberg Mountains, it worths a visit. Wish I have more time to hike 7 km to the top and see the rock arts.
We thank you for the positive review. Yes to hike longer more than a day tour is needed. A 2 day tour would do.
