I booked with Verne Tours expecting a group experience, but by sheer luck, I ended up being the only person who showed up. What followed was essentially a private tour of Vigo with Jorge, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Other reviewers have already mentioned his passion, and they’re absolutely right. Jorge clearly loves Vigo and has the rare ability to make a city come alive through its stories. Rather than rattling off dates and facts, he weaved history, local culture, and personal anecdotes together in a way that kept me engaged from start to finish. Because it ended up being a one-on-one tour, the experience felt more like a conversation than a lecture. As we walked through the city, we discovered similarities between Vigo and Singapore, and I found myself sharing stories about home as much as he was sharing stories about his city. What I appreciated was that his curiosity was genuine. He was just as engaged in learning about Singapore as I was in learning about Vigo, which made the experience feel wonderfully reciprocal rather than one-sided. By the end of the tour, I felt like I had learned far more about Vigo than I ever would have wandering around on my own. What stood out most was how he peppered the experience with fun stories and local insights that gave real character to the places we visited. It never felt like a scripted performance—it felt like spending a few hours exploring the city with someone genuinely excited to share it. I arrived knowing very little about Vigo and left with a genuine appreciation for its history, culture, people, and quirks. If you are lucky enough to get Jorge as your guide, you’re in excellent hands.
Lovely afternoon spent in the company of George. Very knowledgeable and engaging guy. I would heartily recommend! And have your questions ready....
