During the Ha Long Bay cruise with Diana Cruise, my wife was apparently told by one of the staff that “one bottle of wine is complimentary with dinner.” Naturally, she instructed me to order a bottle. Being the obedient husband that I am, I followed orders and selected the finest Riesling on the menu. Now, in Vietnam, wine is apparently priced as though each bottle has been personally blessed by French royalty. The bottle came to roughly about 3.4 million Vietnamese dong. The real entertainment began at checkout. Suddenly, the staff on Diana Cruise claimed the wine was “not actually complimentary.” An impressive plot twist, considering that was the entire reason we ordered it in the first place. And since I had confidently ordered the most expensive bottle available, I experienced the unique sensation of realizing I may have just financially detonated myself. For the sake of my wife’s pride, let me add this: she graduated from a top-tier MBA program and speaks far better English than the cruise staff. This was not a misunderstanding. It was the kind of conveniently vague, bait-and-switch nonsense that tourist traps seem to perfect. So, for anyone considering a Ha Long Bay cruise: enjoy the scenery, enjoy the limestone cliffs, but when staff casually promise you “free” wine, perhaps ask them to put that miracle in writing first.

Terrible experience, you need to pay for all the drinks. All. The 2 managers the 2 men are so disrespectful, they talk with you like they own the boat. At the restaurant the woman comes every 2 minutes and talk about the food and try to sell drinks, and take the plate and comes every 1 minute it’s very very annoying. Don’t book Diana cruise or Venus cruise It’s same owner. For that money book something else. I also felt in the boat and the floor went in, I get a big scar on my leg. And this is how the manager text me on WhatsApp. That iam trying to make everything big. We left the boat 1,5 day earlier and wanted our money back because of my scar. And this is how we get treated on SMS ON whatsapp.
