Day Tour to Volubilis & Meknes from Fes

Great tour of the Roman ruins in Volubilis and other stops in Meknes. Took a tour of the mosque and palace in Meknes which was well worth the cost. Great value for this tour.

I would say this tour was mostly just organised transport with a guide in Meknes. No guide in Volubilis and we were told “there’s enough information there” except most of the signs have been ripped off so a guide was pretty essential. Meknes tour was good in parts but we also spent far too long going through the cheap tat (knock offs) souks rather than seeing anything interesting. Saw the mausoleum and the famous gate with a very brief visit to the spice/sweets souk and an interesting artisinal craft area, and the mausoleum was beautiful. None of the advertised optional extra monuments were actually offered as an option. On balance, disappointing. Food was surprisingly excellent. And if you ask for a la carte they will give you it rather than tje fixed menu.

Excellent day. Everything was perfect. From the choice of the program, the restaurant, to the amazing guide Sidi Raffic! And I cannot forget our dedicated driver, Abdoul, who shared his culture with us. Thank you for this excellent day.

They picked me up on time near my accommodation. We went on tour with two other groups, five in total. In Volubilis, we had about an hour and a half of free time to go around freely in our groups. The time was adequate and enough to see the ruins. We then moved on to Meknes, where we had lunch and walked around with a local tour guide. The town was quieter and cleaner than Fez. It was the perfect tour, with safe driving on the move and a return time of around 18.30 as originally planned. If time permits, this is a tour that I would definitely recommend during your stay in Fez.

The van ride was comfortable and our driver did a great job making good time between stops. We had plenty of time at Volubilis to wander and take photos. There was no guide to provide information, but it was still very enjoyable. The lunch stop was very tasty and they gave us a lot of food. I had the mixed grill and it was fantastic. There was a local guide for the Meknes portion of the tour. Our guide, Rasheed, was great. He spoke at least four languages and was very funny. Overall, we saw quite a bit and had a great time. We left Fez around 9:30 am and were back at about 7:00 pm.

The tour was as advertised and we were very happy with our guide Hassan. There was plenty of time allocated to explore Volubilis, and the walking tour of Meknes was excellent. A very enjoyable day.

The Roman ruins and meknes, both with their respective guides, were very good and pleasant tour, however the Yassin driver who caught us in the hotel drove very badly, in addition to running freava a lot on top, I got very nauseous.. as we did not know the place, at lunchtime we asked the options, he did not give us any and took us in those tourist restaurants of closed menu full of other tourists and their guides, being that we talked that we wanted something different, it was very unpleasant and then it became an annoying climate (probably he gets a slice to take the tourists la)..

A beautiful tour to the ruins of Volubilis and to Meknes. On the way there are some stops to viewpoints. If you’re thinking about taking the train from Fez to Meknes to see the city, book this day tour instead. Our driver Hassan was great. Helpful, informative and a pleasant conversation partner.
