The tunnels of Củ Chi (Vietnamese: Địa đạo Củ Chi) are an immense network of connecting tunnels located in the Củ Chi District of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, and are part of a much larger network of tunnels that underlie much of the country. The Củ Chi tunnels were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War, and were the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tết Offensive in 1968. The tunnels were used by Viet Cong soldiers as hiding spots during combat, as well as serving as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for numerous North Vietnamese fighters. The tunnel systems were of great importance to the Viet Cong in their resistance to American and ARVN forces, and helped to counter the growing American military presence.

Great solo trip, definitely worth it to pay more and get the VIP experience, one benefit is that there are many timeslots to choose from, I chose 11am and they came to pick me up from where I was staying exactly on time. It was one driver and one tour guide, the driver drove very smoothly which was much appreciated considering its not a short trip. The tour guide was very enthusiastic, and friendly, he helped me to take pictures and videos and explained things very well. Definitely recommend!
It was a really great trip! Very easy. Both got picked up and dropped off at my hostel. Eddie was an amazing guide and very easy to be around. The drive (I did the bike) out to the tunnels were very beautiful and we went through some smaller local towns. Even though it rained a lot in the last half of the trip, and I got home soaking wet, it was still with a big smile and a laugh.
