Coromandel Day Tour From Auckland

Description
The Coromandel Day Tour begins with pick-up from the 4 hotels listed in Auckland CBD, followed by a scenic three-hour drive through the Waikato Region and Bay of Plenty. Along the way, we’ll stop at a picturesque location for photos and any additional stops as needed. Our first destination is the Driving Creek Railway, where you’ll embark on a one-hour train journey featuring spirals, tunnels, viaducts, and reversing points as it climbs to the Eyefull Tower. From the top, enjoy stunning panoramic views over the island-dotted Hauraki Gulf. Next, we’ll visit the natural thermal mineral pools at Hot Water Beach, where you can relax, swim, or stroll along the shore. Remember to bring your swimwear and a towel! Then, explore the coastal walkway to Cathedral Cove, an iconic spot on the Coromandel Peninsula. After your memorable day in Coromandel, we’ll head back to Auckland central. ** Note that the tour’s start time may vary based on tide times at Hot Water Beach.

This was a fantastic tour with a very friendly driver and guide Henrik who knows everything about the area and the history of the place and country. We enjoyed the almost 12 hours of time we spent on this tour with Henrik.
Paulo was our guide and did an awesome job! The train ride was amazing with views that take your breath away. The “walk” to Cathedral Cove was a little challenging but worth the effort. We were the oldest in the group and brought up the rear but everyone was great! Hot Water Beach was great too.
Our guide Paulo was awesome! He was informative of local life and did a great job making sure everyone had a good time.
Nancy is extremely friendly, out going, professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. She went out of her way to make sure we enjoy the trip.
One of the least organized tours I have been on. I had received an email saying that Cathedral Bay, a highlight of the tour, had reopened but we were informed it was closed but maybe we could pay ourselves and take a water taxi or walk. We agreed to the water taxi but by the time we got there after driving through small towns so we could “see the beach” from the van, the water taxi was closed. The walk we were told we could do never materialized. Our guide didn’t know which cafe to go to in Thames for breakfast and asked which we liked the look of! We only got to the train ride by the skin of our teeth. We enjoyed the ride. Guide needs to improve organizational skills and have a Plan B when some things don’t work out such as with the weather.
We had the pleasure of having Warren as our driver and guide for the Coromandel Day Adventure from Auckland & Beyond Tours. He was outstanding. He brought fantastic energy to the day and handled circumstances beyond his control with grace and humour. His quick wit and great sense of humour made the experience even more enjoyable. Warren is incredibly knowledgeable, but what truly sets him apart is how genuine and sincere he is. He shared so much information while also really listening and engaging with us, making us feel like friends. He was flexible, relaxed, professional, and an excellent driver. What also impressed us was his willingness to help anyone — whether they were on his tour or not. We highly recommend Warren and Auckland & Beyond Tours for a memorable and exceptionally well-run experience. As promised- here is my review in a limerick: There once was a guide from Auckland named Warren, Who met us at six — bright-eyed, not worn-in. With knowledge and cheer, Made Coromandel shine clear— Informative, flexible, never boring!
Went to Coromandel with a group of family friends — such a beautiful and memorable experience! We soaked in the natural hot water beach, hiked down to the breathtaking Cathedral Cove, and wrapped it up with a charming ride on the Creek Railway. The day was quite packed, and though we only had time for quick snacks, it gave us a wonderful snapshot of the scenic Coromandel Peninsula. It’s perfect if you want to cover all the highlights in one trip, but if you’d like to truly immerse yourself in the experience, I’d recommend slowing down and enjoying one attraction per day.
Adil , our guide was with us the whole trip & he was amazing. He told us abt the history of new Zealand & also. Abt the new new Zealand. He was very helpful & guided us to all the activities.
Kia Ora! Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear your Coromandel tour was the best day of your trip. Adil will be delighted to know his stories, guidance, and support made your experience so memorable. We truly appreciate your kind feedback and hope to see you again on another adventure!
This was a great trip with amazing views! Our guide Stephen was full of information about New Zealand and the areas we visited. The train was adorable, and helps support a pottery business while also showing off the beautiful rain forest reclaimed from farmland. The views and photos from Cathedral Cove were stunning, and I took many amazing photos. Yes, there really is a hot spring under the beach, and I had plenty of time to enjoy a soak in the hot water. I highly recommend Auckland and Beyond as a company. Their tours are small and wide-reaching.
I would have rated it a 5, but the earthquake in Russia changed the itinerary and we had to make some adjustments so sadly we did not get to Cathedral Cove. We did get to hike some and see some nice views, but Cathedral Cove is truly what I wanted to see. I know it's not the tour operator's fault, but they were very clear in letting us know what was going on and what might happen with tour changes. Anyway, the tour was fun but different from what I expected due to things out of everyone's control.
