So much food!!! The setting was super special and the view was lovely. We made great food and had a wonderful time. The place was a bit confusing to find and was all indoors without an Al fresco dinner, but we all enjoyed what we learned.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re really happy you enjoyed the food, the setting, and your time with us. At our Slow Cooking School in Tuscany and Umbria, we always aim to create a special and authentic experience, combining hands-on cooking with beautiful surroundings and local traditions. Just to clarify, our al fresco dining experience—lunch in the garden is offered when the weather allows. On cooler or unpredictable days, we move indoors to ensure our guests remain comfortable while still enjoying the full experience. We truly appreciate your kind words about the cooking class and are so glad you had a wonderful time learning and creating traditional Italian dishes with us. We hope to welcome you again soon, perhaps in warmer weather so you can fully enjoy our garden lunch experience at the Slow Cooking School! Warm regards, Alina Slow Cooking School – Tuscany & Umbria
Alina is a great teacher and knowledgeable. Very generous to welcome us to her farm and take time to host a great lesson and meal and tour. She was happy to answer all our questions and help us learn. We want to stay at her farm on our next trip to Tuscany!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a true pleasure welcoming you to our farm and sharing a day of slow cooking and Tuscan traditions with you. We love creating an experience that feels both inspiring and deeply authentic, and your appreciation means the world to us. We’ll be delighted to welcome you back — next time, you can also stay in one of our villas for a full immersion in the beauty and slow rhythm of the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside. 🌿🍷 Warm regards, Alina and the Slow Cooking School
Fun cooking class in a beautiful setting in the Umbrian hills. We made several different types of pasta which were made into a traditional lasagna, zucchini lasagne with béchamel sauce, tagliatelle with a red meat sauce, and ravioli with a light sauce. We also made a summer strawberry tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Included was a lesson & tasting of EVOO & a tour of their extra virgin olive oil operations. Alina was very welcoming and informative.
Thank you!! Your words truly means the world to me!! I pour my heart into every class, and it brings me so much joy to see guests like you connect with the land, the ingredients, and the magic of handmade pasta. At Slow Cooking School, we don’t just teach recipes — we share a way of life. From foraging nettles to rolling dough made with just flour and water, every detail is rooted in tradition and simplicity. And of course, ending the day with a glass of wine and a taste of our olive oil is part of the experience! I’m so happy you felt welcomed and had fun — that’s exactly what I hope for every guest. Grazie from the heart,❤️ Alina
Everyone in our large group of 9 said this was the best cooking class they had ever taken. It was such a fun hands on experience and Alina was a perfect host. She was so good at helping us and explaining everything clearly. Do yourself a favor and make this part of your trip to the Siena!
Dear Jennifer (and your amazing group!), Grazie mille for your beautiful words! Reading this made me smile from ear to ear (and maybe cry a little… but just from joy, I promise!). I’m so happy you found me — the real Alina! With so many copycats around here pretending to be me (yes, really… some people are getting a little too inspired!), it’s heartwarming to know that you experienced the original, hands-on, laughter-filled Tuscan cooking magic. Thank you for trusting me with your time in Siena. Your review is the best ingredient I could ask for! Un abbraccio grande e a presto — Alina
Highly recommend this cooking class, it was such a great experience. The setting was amazing, the host was gracious and very informative and we learned how to make many different types of pasta. It was fun and very interactive. Great way to spend the morning and definitely left very happy with the whole experience.
Dear Margaret, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a positive experience in our cooking class. It’s fantastic to know that you enjoyed the setting and found the session both informative and interactive. Making pasta is such a fun and rewarding experience! We’re thrilled that you left happy and satisfied. We can’t wait to welcome you back for more culinary adventures! Warm regards, alina
The original class was canceled due to COVID, so we were sent to her mother’s olive farm in Umbria for the cooking class. It was great, although it was a longer drive and required a walk of almost a mile due to a closed road. The pastas and tiramisu were excellent; we could have been more involved in the preparation of the sauces. All in all, a great experience.
Thank you for your review! We’re happy you enjoyed the class and the delicious pasta and tiramisu. We understand the road closure made the trip a bit longer, and we truly appreciate your understanding. There are actually two roads to reach the farm, and unfortunately, one had unexpected roadwork, which we were not advised about in advance. We did provide a ride back and, had we known sooner, we would have been more than happy to pick you up as well! We hope this didn’t take away from the overall experience and look forward to welcoming you again. Warm regards, The Slow Cooking School Team
Incredible setting in an old farmhouse. We loved learning how to make 3 different pastas and then eating them which was delicious! I wish we could have been more involved in making the sauces which we watched her do (and which she explained) but didn’t get to do ourselves. Loved that she used all fresh ingredients. The inclusion of wine tasting in the description was also misleading - we did have a local wine with lunch, but just one, no choice, and no discussion; we had specifically chosen this class because it included both cooking and wine tasting, so that was disappointing. We still had a great time, but I don’t feel the experience was as described in the overview. I think if the group size was a little smaller it might work better. A little difficult to find the location, but they are aware and were proactive about helping everyone find their way.
Thank you so much for your feedback, and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed learning to make the pasta and had a delicious time with us! I appreciate your thoughts on the sauces—since we prepare three different types of pasta, we want everyone to enjoy the full experience within the 3-hour class. To make it all possible, we pre-cut and prep the ingredients so we can assemble the sauces together during the class. I understand you would have liked more hands-on time with the sauces, and we will keep that in mind for future classes. As for the wine, I apologize if I was a bit brief. I always aim to create a relaxed atmosphere and ask if anyone has questions, but I’m sorry if it didn’t meet your expectations. I’ll be sure to make the wine portion more engaging going forward. Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us improve—and I hope to welcome you back soon for an even better experience! Warmly, Alina
Super cozy and authentic cooking course in fantastic surroundings. We were 4 people going together, and on the whole team participated another 6 others from all over the world. There was good atmosphere and a lot of nice talk throughout the day. It was served delicious wine and olive oil and we were guided well through all processes. Great Recommendation
Dear Josefin, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your friends had such a hyggelig and authentic experience at our cooking class. It’s great to know that the atmosphere was lively and that you enjoyed the wine and olive oil while connecting with participants from around the world. We look forward to welcoming you back for more culinary adventures in the future! Best wishes, alina and the slow vooking school
There were 6 of us at the cooking class, which included 2 children, aged 8 and 5. First of all, it was such a wonderful kitchen. Rustic and lived in with marble tables, perfect for rolling dough. Alina, the hostess and chef, spent some time sharing her history and the history of the location, the olive oil and Italian cooking. We then proceeded to make pasta using only the finest organic flour, semolina, olive oil and eggs. The children had a great time working with us. We made linguine, ravioli, and pince. Alina showed us how to shape the pasta and cut it. She showed us how to make the wonderful sauces and filling. We then had a beautiful lunch of linguine with a ragu of ground beef, sausage and tomatoes, ravioli with sautéed zucchini and pince with a cherry tomato sauce. I have to say that this may have been the best meal we’ve had so far in Italy. We also made a version of tiramisu for dessert. Alina shared espresso with us, limoncello and amaretto. We had plenty of left overs to take with us. The grounds are lovely and the ride through the countryside is breathtaking. All 6 of us had a wonderful time and highly recommend the class to everyone.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was a joy to have you and your family in my kitchen, and I loved seeing how engaged the children were with making pasta—such natural chefs! I’m delighted to hear that you enjoyed not only the dishes we created together but also the entire experience, from shaping pasta to savoring the countryside views. Sharing the traditions of Italian cooking, from the fresh ingredients to our family recipes, is truly a passion, and I’m so glad it made for an unforgettable day for you all. Thank you again, and I hope you carry these delicious memories with you!
