The Jami - Alfar Mosque on 2 nd Cross Street is painted with red and white stripes, similar to an old-fashioned, candy-striped barber's shop. Its col scheme makes its very hard to miss amongst all the other rather shabby Pettah buildings. Over a 100 years old, the mosque was constructed in 1908. Just inside the entrance, the inscription reads the architect was H.L.Saib Lebbe. A friendly security guard may allow you inside (even if you are a women) to view the washing ponds and the rear view of the mosque's clock tower. Women's are not permitted to go inside the prayer halls our . The mosque is soon to undergo expansion to make it into a four - storey complex catering foe between 7,000 8,000 worshippers at one time. Independence Memorial Hall is situated in the Independence Square (formerly Torrington Square) at Colombo 7 in the Cinnamon Gardens, this Hall was built for the commemoration of the independence from British in 1940s. The monument was built at the location where the formal ceremony marking the start of self-rule, with the opening of the first parliament by Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester occurred at a special podium February 4, 1948. This Hall is designed on the architecture of the Magul Maduwa. (meeting hall of last king of Sri Lanka) located in Kandy. The column and pillars are decorated with traditional Sri Lankan carvings and paintings. It is being one of the popular venue among travelers in Colombo. I'm so glad I booked this day tour experience of Colombo. I was able to see all of the major sights of the city within 3-4hrs. Due to the rain my experience took place in a car as opposed to a Tuk tuk which I'm glad happend. I definitely recommend this experience when visiting.

I saw the tuk tuk experience on a travel show in Australia and as I was travelling solo, it looked like a safe and enjoyable way to see the highlights of Colombo. I thought I had booked the same crowd, but it turns out they have a network of providers they use. Anyway, my driver Pradeep was on time, friendly and courteous. He explained some areas of interest and took me to a place that was outside the tour that I really wanted to. He drove well and I felt safe. I would really recommend this. I booked at the last minute and the cost was reasonable. I’ll definitely use it again.

Great tour! We really enjoyed the tour, we learned a lot and saw all the highlights of the city in good time. Going in the evening was the right choice since it meant cooler temperatures. We liked that we could ride in the tuk-tuk between stops, nit then get out and walk a bit -- in the park, along the sea wall and in the maritime museum. Faisal was knowledgeable about the places we visited and wss also an excellent driver. We felt safe in his hands! Thank you for a great evening in Colombo!

Tour was only for 2.5hrs and all places were not covered as per the itinerary. Even after telling the driver the places are not covered he did not cover the same. Polite and decent driver. Not worth the money.
