Ross was a fantastic guide! Knowledgeable, competent and personable. And we loved that our tour was so intimate…only 6 people vs. 16 and 20 on other tours. We would highly recommend Florida Adventure Bioluminescent Kayaks through Viator
It was an awesome experience. I went with my 8 year old nephew. I had to paddle because he was having a hard time. It was tiring but fun. We collected tons of jellyfish and saw the bioluminescence. I’d definitely recommend. My suggestion is to have an option for a guide to row especially with children. I was by myself with an 8 year old and though I kept up it was hard. Just a suggestion.
My experience was not what I expected, and I believe the tour conditions should be communicated much more clearly before booking. This tour requires at least an intermediate level of kayaking experience, as spending so much time on the water especially in strong wind conditions can be very difficult for beginners. The initial explanation was extremely basic and not enough to make someone feel properly prepared. I also expected the tour to be more closely guided, let us know about the ecosystem, especially since it is advertised as a guided experience. However, each person goes alone in their kayak (in our case in a tandem), and the guide stays quite far away without providing clear instructions or ongoing support during the activity. In my case, this created a sense of insecurity, particularly because there was strong wind and a nearby storm, making the kayak difficult to control and causing moments of panic. Regarding safety, the life jacket I was given was far too large, and there was no proper check to ensure the equipment fit correctly before starting. In addition, the sky was completely cloudy that night, so it was impossible to see the bioluminescence. I believe that if weather conditions make the main experience impossible, customers should be informed in advance and offered the option to reschedule or receive a refund, even if they need to take a %. It seemed clear that the guide already knew visibility would be poor. After taking tours all over the world, this was unfortunately one of the least organized experiences I have had. I am not trying to discredit the company, but there are several important areas that need improvement, especially customer service, safety measures, guidance, and expectation management. Perhaps because we were only two people, we did not receive the necessary attention, or the guide assigned to us lacked sufficient experience.
Did Not see any illuminescence at all, maybe it wasn't season, but we paid money to see water glowing which we didn't see, so make a long story short pretty much a waste of time and money. And got attacked by mosquitoes
We had a really good time. Our guide was awesome. It was my wife's first time in a kayak we definitely recommend. We'll definitely be back again.
We booked the Clear Kayak Bioluminescence Tour while visiting from out of town and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled due to weather, which we completely understand and do not fault the company for. What was frustrating was the resolution. Instead of a refund, we were only offered a raincheck. Since we live over 1,000 miles away, that is not a practical option for us and effectively means we paid for an experience we never received. Weather cancellations happen, but a fair customer policy matters. For local customers, a raincheck may work. For travelers, especially those visiting from far away, a refund would be the reasonable solution. Very disappointing experience overall.
That you for taking the time to leave a review for us. It is unfortunate when severe weather interferes w/our operations. We understand this can be frustrating. Operation on the coast can be tricky as we can have showers or thunderstorms that roll through last minute, that is why the we,and our competitors all employ an all sales final sales policy, as it costs us all money to pay our guides to arrive, set up and be prepared for your arrival. While we understand a no refund policy can be frustrating, we offer rsinchecks that never expire, and can be gifted to anyone of your choosing. While we do understand that we have guests from out of state, that say they will never ever return to Florida, we wllow the rsinchevks to be transferable. As you can probably imagine, if we allowed refunds for out of state guests, we would only have out of state guests on every single one of our tours. The best consensus we have found, is transferable rainchecks that never expire. This is been our policy for over a decade and it seems to work well for 90% of our valued customers, while still keeping these companies in business. All this information can be viewed on our website prior to making your reservation, under the cancelation policy. We'd have preferred not to receive a 1 star review, but that is your choice and we respect it. Respectfully, Florida Adventurer
The water needs to be warm enough to see the bioluminescence. So we didn’t see any blue, but we still enjoyed the guide and the evening on the water. We saw some tree, crabs and fish.
Even though our guide was nice, I do not recommend going in February. Cold weather made it hard to see anything. Not at all worth the money spent. We did see a dolphin. That was cool but not what we expected to experience. Would do again in the summer time when water is warm.
Disappointed in the overall trip. Only seen a couple jellies and the guide barely talk to us. We really didn’t know what was going on just followed the guide.
This is the third bioluminescence tour I’ve been on, but the first with this company. It was by far the best experience. Josh and DJ were absolutely wonderful! They made the tour fun, educational, and comfortable. They made sure the whole group stayed where we needed to, so it felt safer than other tours too which made it possible to relax and enjoy. The bioluminescence was beautiful and we learned a ton. I cannot recommend launching from Kiwanis enough if you’re sensitive to mosquitos. The bugs were much better compared to other locations I’ve launched from in the past.
