We had such a fantastic trip! The length was perfect and the accommodations were so beautiful and comfortable. Our group was a blast to be with and we created life-long friendships. Nico our tour guide was so fun and friendly and he was very patient with us answering all our questions and getting our group from place to place. Angel our chef cooked us amazing top-notch food. I would highly recommend this experience to any friends and family for the entire experience from the views to the food to the Machu Picchu tour.
The whole experience was great. Carlos was a fantastic guide, he made every moment enjoyable, especially when I was struggling with the high altitude, he was gently so encouraging and supportive. He’s very passionate about sharing the Quechua culture and traditions - I learned so much and enjoyed that he let us participate in the culture. The whole trek experience was very very much worth the price. The accommodations were amazing, especially days 2 and 3. We were fed so well by Wilmer - each meal included at least 4 giant platters plus a delicious soup, we were so shocked that he did so much with the time he had and with how remote each place felt. Watching him speed up to the Salkantay Pass and have hot tea waiting for us was so impressive. The whole team was fantastic and I’m so happy we chose Salkantay Trekking for this trip. Everything went to smoothly even with special requests.
I had the best time hiking with Salkantay Trekking and Carlos the Mountain King. Carlos is professional, but also super funny and personable. I’ll be sad to separate our little familia when we return to Cusco. He did a great job with the educational bursts as well. The food was also great (shoutout Wilmer) and the presentation was beautiful for every meal. It’s super impressive that the chefs were completely the hikes with all of our food and gear so quickly. Overall, an unforgettable experience!
Fantastic trekking experience! With Carlos the Mountain King we all conquered the tough climbs and descents in the altitude and in the jungle. Very professionally run tour, beautiful landscapes and incredible culture. Highly recommended.
Carlos the Mountain King was an amazing guide! He kept the energy up in the group during the hardest portions of the hike with his upbeat and lighthearted demeanor! He was also extremely knowledgeable of Inca history and we learned a lot during our trek to Machu Picchu! Wilmer the ~International Chef~ was extremely accommodating of any allergies in the group and the food was superior quality! He even baked us a cake to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
I just got back from the 5-day Salkantay trek with my family, it was wonderful! I have only positive things to say: excellent food, incredible accommodations, the guide was just perfect! I highly recommend Franz from "Andean goat" as a guide. He was great all the way through.
My experience with Salkantay was great. The treck was beautiful and the food was good. Sleeping was easy we even got to shower in the backcountry. Even though all of these things made a great trip the real difference maker was our guide Franz. Franz made sure we all were learning included and having fun. His positive energy and kind attitude made it very easy for me and my mom to have an amazing vacation. I’d say the experience alone is 10/10 but Franz somehow made it a 12/10
Our guide Franz "Andean Goat" was great! Good mountain experience and fascinating interpretation of Inca history. The children really liked doing the trek with him.
My sixteen year old son and I just completed the 5 day classic Salkantay trek and it was such an epic and amazing experience!! The hiking and the route itself were challenging but the scenery was epic and amazing and the sense of accomplishment we felt when finishing was incomparable. Each of the first three nights we got to stay in sky domes located in incredibly beautiful places. Each one was super different climate wise, and all of them were comfortable, beautiful, and awesome. We had our own chef who traveled with our group and he prepared and provided a variety of excellent Peruvian foods that were beautifully presented. However, our very favorite part was our super excellent guide, Franz the Andean goat. Franz is passionate about Peru, about hiking, and about the mountains and nature that surrounded us. He enhanced each aspect of our experience by providing background, context, and support so that we were able to take it all in. He seamlessly arranged so many different things for various members of our small group, and, perhaps most importantly, he is both kind and hilarious! If you are looking for an excellent Andean adventure that will push your physical limits and fill your heart, book with Salkantay trekking and ask for Franz the Andean Goat. You will be so glad you did.
It was a great experience. Everything is perfectly arranged at this organization. Everything has been thought of: good briefing, transport, the eater (couldn't be better), and the sleeping places. This ziin so fantastic.one is even more beautiful than the other. And then the guide: We had Franz (Andean Goat) I don't know what the other guides are like, but they can't be better than Franz. What a great guide he is. He takes everyone into account, is in no hurry at all, everyone can walk at their own pace and takes enough time for rest/photo moments. And he knows EVERYTHING about the environment, nature and the Incas. He can talk about this very passionately.
