Fabulous Experience

This was a wonderful tour! We easily met the guide and driver at the port and headed for Bribri, which took about 75 minutes. Our guide Anna was very engaging and knowledgeable about her country’s history, culture, resources, plants and animals, etc. Johnny was an excellent driver. At Bribri we learned how they traditionally used native plants and trees, and participated with the family in making hot chocolate- starting with cacao beans. Delicious! They sell handcrafted items and there are restrooms on site. Then we moved on to Cahuita National Park where amongst the many trees and vegetation we saw sloths, monkeys, a snake, birds etc. Anna has a wealth of information about all flora and fauna. The beach is lovely! And there are restrooms. Our last stop was at a store for delicious fruit and coffee samples. They had souvenirs and bathrooms as well. We arrived back at our ship with time to spare.

Operator response

Thank you so much for this detailed and wonderful review. We’re thrilled to hear that your experience from start to finish was so enjoyable and well organized. It’s great to know that meeting Anna and Johnny at the port was smooth and that the drive to Bribri was comfortable. Anna truly has a passion for sharing Costa Rica’s history, culture, and biodiversity, and we’re delighted that her knowledge of plants, animals, and local traditions enriched your day. The Bribri chocolate experience is always a favorite, and we’re glad you enjoyed participating hands-on—from cacao beans to a delicious cup of hot chocolate. We’re also happy that Cahuita National Park lived up to expectations, with abundant wildlife sightings and time to appreciate the beautiful beach. Ending the tour with fruit and coffee tastings is a lovely way to wrap up the day, and returning to the ship with time to spare is exactly how we want every cruise tour to end. Thank you for choosing us and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you again on another Costa Rica adventure. Warm regards, **Nicole** Syl Travel Team

BEST DAY with the BEST guide Ana

Absolutely amazing day with Ana and Roberto. My husband and I booked this last minute and we felt very fortunate to have this driver and wonderful tour guide. We roasted cacao beans, made chocolate, saw medicinal plants, walked through the rainforests to the beach, saw monkeys, and sloths. Ana’s knowledge was well beyond her young years and she made our trip! Roberto was a fabulous driver, and pointed out a few extras along the way like the banana plantation and some monkeys - we had a fabulous lunch on the beach and ended our day back at the port completely in love with the area. BOOK THIS TOUR!

Operator response

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and enthusiastic review. We are truly delighted to hear that your last-minute booking turned into such a memorable experience. Ana and Roberto will be especially pleased to know how much you appreciated their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail. Ana’s passion for sharing Costa Rica’s culture, nature, and traditions, along with Roberto’s safe driving and thoughtful additions along the way, are exactly what we strive to deliver on every tour. We are glad you enjoyed the hands-on cacao experience, the rainforest walk to the beach, the wildlife sightings, and, of course, a relaxing lunch by the ocean. Ending the day back at the port feeling connected to the area is the best outcome we could hope for. Thank you for your strong recommendation. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we would be honored to welcome you back to Costa Rica in the future.

Local cultural experience

Great way to spend limited time in port. Rainforest on the beach with local animal sightings. Indigenous peoples village with cocoa roasting, stone pounding with grinding into a paste. Delicious with banana or as a drink with ginger and nutmeg. No sugar needed! Outstanding guide and driver with a comfortable van.

Great trip to Cahuita National park

We had a wonderful driver and tour guide for our day trip. Mario, our driver, had to deal with heavy traffic and delays all the way from San José to Limón on Highway 10 due to a construction road closure on Highway 32. This added many hours of additional drive time, which he handled patiently and professionally. Three cheers for Mario!! Rosa, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and an expert at spotting birds, sloths and poison frogs. She provided us with accurate and timely information about the places we visited and areas we drove through. Thanks to both Mario and Rosa for a fantastic experience.

Superb Tour-Guide!!

Katherine was an incredible tour guide; she was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient, caring, and so attentive throughout our tour. We were a group of ten, ranging in age from 4 to 89, yet she gave us her undivided attention and went above & beyond to ensure that each one of us, had the best experience possible! There’s no question that this particular tour in itself, was/is very good, but there’s not one of us who would disagree that Katherine, had a lot to do with making it a phenomenal experience for us! She answered our questions, she explained when we looked confused, she translated when we needed it… and as a result, we’re all convinced that our experience would not have been so epic & memorable, if not for Katherine, as our tour- guide!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We are absolutely delighted to hear that Katherine made such a meaningful impact on your tour experience. She truly embodies the spirit of hospitality—knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and deeply attentive to the needs of every guest. Accommodating a group with such a wide age range is no small task, and it’s heartwarming to know that Katherine ensured each of you felt seen, heard, and cared for throughout the day. Your kind words reaffirm the dedication she brings to every tour, and we’ll be sure to pass your compliments along to her—she’ll be thrilled to know she made your visit so memorable. Thank you again for choosing to explore with us. We hope to welcome you back on another adventure soon!

Great Experience! Book!

Fiorella and YiYi were great! Super kind and accommodating. Very friendly and honest hardworking people. Would book another tour with them and recommend you do as well! So sweet 🥰 The chocolate tour was very interesting got to see how they make chocolate by hand as well as some animals in their area. Catato, the owner of the chocolate tour, was hilarious because he kept playing little pranks on us throughout the tour. Really nice people. Cahuita National Park, was nice and scenic. Didn’t get to see toooo many animals. But did see a sloth and a baby snake. It was windy that day and lots of people were there so I think the animals were hiding. All in all, great tour and our guides were the best. Besides, our tour guides, I appreciated that it was a more intimate tour with it just being the 3 of us and Fio and YiYi. So it was more personalized a definite advantage.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your detailed and heartfelt review! We're delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful experience with Fiorella and YiYi. They truly go above and beyond to make every tour special, and your kind words will mean a lot to them. The chocolate tour sounds like a lot of fun, and we're glad you enjoyed both the hands-on experience and Catato's playful personality—it’s always a treat to laugh while learning! Cahuita National Park is a beautiful destination, and while the animals may have been a bit shy that day, we're happy you spotted a sloth and a baby snake. The intimate nature of your tour sounds like it made the experience even more memorable. Thank you for choosing us for your adventure, and we’d love to welcome you back for another personalized and unforgettable tour in the future!

Not to be missed!

We had a wonderful day with our guide Juan, who drove us from Puerto Limon down to see the indigenous Bri Bri people in southern Costa Rica. He took us to one of their settlements where we were shown many local plants and how they were used for food, medicine, and clothing. The highlight of this part of the tour was making chocolate. We watched and helped! our Bri Bri hosts roast the cacao pods over an open flame, crushing the hot pods with rocks using a primitive mortar and pestle and then grinding the small chunks into pure cacao chocolate which we enjoyed mixed with roasted banana. Yum! This part of the tour was more than enough to make a fun day, but this was only the first part. We then started to head to Cahuita National Park, but not before stopping to hike down to a nice waterfall and enjoy the cool water (bring a swim suit!) en route to Cahuita. We hiked along the trails at Cahuita National Park and enjoyed the beach and scenery before beginning our trek back to Puerto Limon. However, the day wasn't over yet as we stopped for a nice lunch with our guide Juan in Cahuita, enjoying a traditional lunch with beverages before heading back to Puerto Limon. Juan could not have been a better guide, teaching us new words in both Spanish and the native Bri Bri language, pointing out wildlife and other things we might have missed, and all around ensuring that we had the best day possible. We highly recommend the tour and can't say enough about our guide for the day, Juan. Thank you!
