Very dissapointed in this company. Booked this tour for clients, a family of 4 adults. 2 were told on the day of the tour that they did not pass the driving test and had to ride behind the guides. Client asked about adjusting the price from single rider to tandam rider and they were told they would have to talk to their travel agent. Really....why not just make it right then and there rather than leave a bad taste in clients mouths?? They notified me and I immediately reached out to the company and requested that they refund half the the 2 riders costs (difference between single rider and double rider) with no responce after 2 emails. Then i contacted Viator for assistance and was told the supplier refused to offer these clients a refund of the difference. I feel this is a great bait and switch scam or a company with just really poor customer service. As a travel advisor, I will not be selling this tour or any other tour by this company again. I will be sure as many agents as possible know as well. Tourism...its what keeps us all going but that requires that we care about people....you obviously don't care.
Overall, this was a great experience. It should definitely be noted that it is rain or shine. We were a little disappointed that the tour operator didn't communicate a little about what is best to wear for this ride. It was a warm day, but it's definitely colder on a Vespa in the Tuscany hills. We were on the tour with another couple and we were all wearing shorts and t-shirts. By the time we got to the first stop we all bought sweatshirts. This helped, but at the second stop we needed to buy some jeans. The sweatshirts and jeans cost 200 Euros -- a pretty big unexpected expense. It should also be noted that the Vespa is more like a motorcycle than a bicycle. You get a 5-minute orientation and test drive before the tour is ready to depart. I wouldn't say it's for beginners -- especially once you are sharing public roads with other vehicles. All of that said, Chianti was beautiful. At some point the rain stopped so it was a little more pleasant. The winery tour is very interesting but it is designed as an infomercial to sell their products at the end. We bought the 6-bottle package including 2 bottles of the EVOO and 2 bottles of the Balsamic Vinagrette -- it was that good! Surprisingly, it was only a 5 minute ride back to the starting point from the winery, so the majority of the tour is on the front end! The tour guides were very helpful and friendly. I recommend this activity, but only if you're comfortable driving a Vespa.
I didn’t give this tour 5 stars because the meeting location is not signed and in an industrial park behind a gate. Our guide was ok. Not rude, just robotic in his delivery at the start, and we had to engage with him often to get local tidbits. Maybe the espresso helped. By the end he was very open and engaging and gave us great advice for Siena. The ride itself was awesome. We are all experienced Vespa riders so we had no trouble at all on the roads. The stops were great and we had time to walk around and the time we spent at the winery was fantastic! We learned a ton about the region and came away with a love of Chianti! The only advice I would give is to offer more food. Cheese and meats would have REALLY been appreciated.
Driving Vespas requires skill. my adult sons could not get it. Driving with a person on the back is even harder. The lady in the other group smashed into a group of parked vespas.Thankfully, Gabriel saved the day by putting the 5 of us in an open air jeep and we had the best time! They should advertise that jeep.
Doing this Vespa tour was exactly why we wanted to come to Italy…to see the Tuscan countryside. It was everything we’d hoped for and more, and no pictures we took could really do it justice! Our guide Jojo was so great and patient, and we had so much fun with him. We stopped in Castellina di Chianti and Fonterutoli, and finished with a wine tasting at Lornano. This was a highlight of our trip, and we can’t say enough good things about it! We can HIGHLY recommend!
An amazing experience. We were able to stop for photos, light shopping, and an amazing personalized wine tasting. A highlight of our trip.
