You can get through the entire castle in under 2 hours with a great guide. Certainly you can spend at least another hour in the gardens or wondering around the nooks of the castle, the farm and gardens. Mathieu was unbelievable- dressed in 1500 reenactment and full of incredible facts and one story after another! Absolutely top 3 guides we have ever had!!!! You will be missing a treasure if you do t book with Matheiu. He made the entire tour and is an absolute must. The day before we were at Chambord and the tour sucked without a great guide. And he even spent extra time after the main private tour was over. Wealth of knowledge.
Our guide Aurzelle was a true expert. We loved all of the history she gave us about the chateau and and her ability to bring the location to life.
A very nice visit. Beautifully preserved castle. Beautiful gardens. The outbuildings also add an extra to the visit.
