A short but bumpy drive away from Moshi, are the clear, turquoise waters of the Chemka Hot Springs, an oasis of geothermal heat that gushes out of the subsoil. Surrounded by lush forest, full of birdsong and the call of monkeys, the Chemka Hot Springs are an ideal place to regenerate your tired legs after a strenuous Kilimanjaro climb
The walk to Materuni Waterfall offers a glimpse into the nature of Tanzania allowing you either to prepare your body for the forthcoming climb to Kilimanjaro or ease your muscles after the climb. This tour starts with a walk through the area adjacent to the waterfall, rich in beautiful natural scenery of Tanzania. It is an opportunity to see how local fruit like avocados, mangos, and bananas grow, as well as learn some of the local history, traditions, village economy, agricultural and cultural life. When you get to the waterfall, you can refresh yourself in the natural pool, so swimsuits will come in handy. The tour will continue with a visit to the local village lying in the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the process of coffee farming and guide you through the preparation of coffee from a bean to a cup. Sing and dance along with the Chaga people as they are grinding, roasting and boiling the beans. When the coffee is ready, villagers will serve lunch - Chagga meal

The promised 4-wheeled terrain vehicle necessary to navigate back roads was not provided - the family van bottomed out in all the ruts and travel times increased. The promised boxed lunch was not provided- a lunch cooked in a private home was not food safe nor sanitary so we had to travel hungry. The relaxing sundowners experience was shortened by the excessive travel time and the badgering for tips when no services were provided was beyond irritating. When we saw the vehicle offered for travel we should have walked away. The natural wonder of the waterfall would have been enjoyable in a better service environment. Pick a better tour company

The use of a 4-wheeled terrain vehicle was never listed nor promised in this particular tour package. As clearly indicated in the tour inclusions, the transportation provided was according to the standard vehicle arrangement mentioned on the itinerary. In regard to the lunch, the tour inclusions clearly stated “Hot Local Lunch” and not boxed lunch. The meal provided was therefore in line with the listed itinerary and local experience offered on this excursion. We truly value every guest’s opinion and understand that travel expectations can differ from person to person. While all services were delivered as per the published tour inclusions, we are genuinely sorry that the experience did not match what you had hoped for.
