Pro’s: The tour and narration was well done. The actual stops chosen were well chosen and the route was very easy to follow. The narration was detailed and sounded like the guide really loved Chartres. Con’s: 1) The TripAdvisor purchasing app would not let me change the email so the instructions went to my spouse, who I was not with on this trip. In addition, the Trippy Tourist app was unclear on how to use an already purchased tour. This meant several phone calls and texts back and forth with my spouse to find and acquire the code. Because the Trippy Tourist help desk is in Las Vegas, the timeliness of their help for someone in Chartres is not ideal. 2) About 5 of the 28 stops are just turns. Not a problem, but kind of a misrepresentation. 3) Are there pictures available? It was difficult to find some of the details the guide was pointing out, especially at the cathedral.
If you only have a few hours in Chartres, this app helps you make the most of it. Very practical and enjoyable. it truly enhances the experience without wasting time.
This cost far less than a private guide but offered just as much insight. A perfect option for independent travelers. Worth it.
No rushing, no waiting for a group. I explored at my own rhythm and still learned a lot about Chartres’ heritage. Awesome Experience!!!
I had no idea about the medieval guilds and history here. The stories added layers of meaning to what I was seeing. Great Experience.
The app guided me smoothly through the cathedral and surrounding streets. The commentary was simple but very informative, and I could stop whenever I wanted.
Nice walk, good story, smooth app worked well on low network areas as well. The process to download the app and tour was communicated well.
The audio guide was terrible. Not much actual information provided and it did a poor job of telling you where to look before launching in to a verbose but vacuous description. DO NOT PURCHASE.
much good, stories too, not just facts. the pronunciation of “Chartres” takes getting used to. new corners of chartres got to know. beautiful church (not restored).
