Itinerary

Pass by

Your carriage ride will take you past the famed St. Philips Church, the oldest congregation in the U.S. south of Virginia. Just off of the Market on Church Street, this beautiful landmark is one not to miss.

Pass by

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour-long horse or mule-drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

Pass by

Pass by the famed U.S. Custom House in Charleston, S.C. Construction began on this iconic building in 1852 but was halted before completion due to the possibility of South Carolina succeeding from the Union. The building was finally finished in 1879.

Pass by

Learn about the many mysterious hauntings in and around this historic Charleston landmark. Not only will you hear about the history of the church itself which dates back to 1681, you'll also have the opportunity to learn about the church's graveyard and the many spooky stories surrounding it.

Completed in 1731, this is the only surviving public building in South Carolina. Used to store gun powder during the Revolutionary War and now used as a museum, there are plenty of stories, haunted and historic, to learn while passing by.

Fantastic Tour

Auston and his horse Boeing did an amazing job with our tour. We booked at the last minute and had the pleasure of having the carriage to ourselves. Auston told us all about the history and hauntings of Charleston. If you are looking for a history lesson about Charleston and want to take a scenic tour, head down to Palmetto Carriage Works.

Charleston haunted horse and carriage tour

Kind of a tongue-in-cheek haunted tour. A bit of humor to go along with the history. We took what was probably the last tour of the day for the guide and horse on a very hot evening. Both the guide and horse persevered.

Operator response

Thank you for the wonderful review, Keith! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your ghost tour. Thanks for riding with us!
