Champagne Tasting Tour Day Trip From Paris

Description
What ever your level of appreciation for Champagne we will adapt the tour make it special for you. I am the owner operator, an expert in Champagne and native English speaker. Never scripted, always personalised, we simply love to share the best about Champagne and have you make unforgettable memories on your day trip. Come alone, couples, groups of friends, and families. There will be some history, some culture, some vineyards to explore, and a lot to learn about the processes. The highlight is of course tasting the various champagnes after learning about them. It all makes sense when you are there! You will never look at champagne in the same way after this tour. Meet some producers, be amazed by the big houses, and if you're there at harvest you'll experience the amazing juice coming off a press!

Itinerary
Departure from Starbuck’s Odeon where you could have a café and croissant while waiting to Champagne.
A recently restored Cathedral where most kings since Clovis were crowned is a true moment to discover. All stained glass was replaced with classic works up until two notable artists modernised the stories to be told. Marc Chagall miraculously kept his style and Imi Knoebel will wow you with impressive cubic colour. I will tell you some details so that when you arrive you'll do a fairly quick tour and know what to look for.
Depending on scheduling possibilities, a mid to big producer visit will start your day. It could be Lanson (one of my favourites) Pommery, Taittinger, Veuve Clicquot, Mumm, if in the morning. In the afternoon it could be Mercier, Boizel, Moet & Chandon (often full) Charles Mignon, or Nicolas Feuillatte in Chouilly. If none are available there are lots of smaller ones to visit with great champagnes to taste. The longer you book in advance the more chance there will be of having a place at the more popular houses. Each house has something unique, especially in the way of their cellars.
Where the idea of Champagne was born. Still to this day the methods written by Dom Pierre Perignon hold true. The church has a very important part in history. This will be a guided tour short enough but important in the understanding of Champagne and its history. We'll drive through the picturesque village and go to the picnic area to make pictures or have a picnic and or drink some champagne.
We'll take a drive up the richest avenue in the world. You'll have your lunch options here with some time to on your own. I'll point out the best places, which we will have done on the way to Reims. IF there is nice weather, a picnic can be chosen on the most fabulous viewpoint at Hautvillers. Lunch would in that case be picked up at a local bakery. Table cloth, glasses and everything is ready for that choice.
Visit a small producer in a very up front intimate tour. Often this is the highlight of the day! You'll learn a lot, see a lot, and taste a lot.
Return trip to Paris. Traffic is typically good until around EuroDisney, after it can and usually is very dense. You can be dropped off at or before Notre Dame Cathedral on our way back via Rive Droite from Pont d'Austerlitz or the pick up point.

Amazing full day Champagne experience to several different locations. Neil adjusted the tour to try a new house tour. It was absolutely Perfect! He is very knowledgeable with all the vineyards and took us to the best little spot in France. Highly recommend this trip if you have a day to sightsee.
A perfect day for everyone to discover new things, new experiences. Your enthusiasm for the whole trip what ever the subject was outstanding. What is great about sharing with clients like you is about learning and sharing. Exactly what we did with class! Who knows perhaps we'll see you again!
This was a great experience! Very informative and felt personalized. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Champagne.
What an exceptional day to have you and family out in the blazing sun meanwhile sipping lots of cold bubbly. It was fun to introduce you to the magic of Champagne, the land, vineyards, big and small producers. Come back any time, love to see you again. Neil for CTT
Neil provided an exceptional experience! He was incredibly knowledgeable and professional, yet it felt like we knew him forever. The scenery was amazing and we learned a lot about the details of the Champagne-making process. We had a wonderful lunch and tasted some delicious Champagne. Highly recommended!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you and introducing you to the Champagne region, its history, and the fascinating process behind making Champagne. I’m delighted to hear you enjoyed the scenery, the lunch, and of course the tastings! Meeting wonderful guests like you is one of the best parts of what I do, and I’m very grateful for your recommendation. I hope the memories — and perhaps a few bottles! — will bring back good moments from your visit to Champagne. Wishing you all the best and see you soon. Neil for CTT
We had the most wonderful day with Neil on this champagne tasting excursion! HIGHLY recommend! Neil took us to two champagne producers-- 1 large and 1 small-- both were beautiful, informative and welcoming, and the champagnes we tasted were wonderful! Not only did we learn a lot through the tours at each of the wineries, Neil also shared his extensive knowledge of the champagne industry, the region, the method of production, and so much more. We recommend this tour to everyone who loves champagne!
Your extensive knowledge on wines around the world made our Champagne tour a delightful way to expand your ever increasing wine experiences. We did a lot in one day, had an excellent relaxed lunch, talked about so much, and had many fabulous champagne to confirm all the knowledge garnered. Thank you so much for making this day fantastic! Neil for CTT
Neil was very informative and we learned many new things about the Champagne region, history, and processes. Excellent venues and solid, worthwhile experience!!
Thank you for bringing sunshine on this joyful day with a little rain. It is always a pleasure to be with wonderful people that have vast experiences in other wine regions yet new to Champagne. Your questions were on point really taking the tour to a new level for all of us. A great day with lifelong memories made. Thank you kindly for the reviews. We'd be glad to see you again in the future! Neil For CTT.
Neil was the perfect guide for this tour! He knows so much about the region and about the making of Champagne. The tour is an absolute perfect break from the hustle and bustle of Paris! We got to see so much and learned a lot about the history of the entire area! Do not hesitate to sign up for this tour. It is fantastic!
It was a pleasure to have welcomed you, a fabulous group of long time friends to Champagne. That is the advantage of truly small group tours, like a private tour but easy to arrange here on Trip Advisor. I am always surprised and delighted by how much the walking tour of the Cathedral is. Lanson was new to you, yet I'm sure it will be one of your favourite brands! Thank you again for the lovely reviews. Who knows perhaps you'll be back again. Neil for CTT.
An amazing, personable tour. Been to France many times, but never had such a nice tour. Amazing champagne house visits and lots of nice history. The picnic lunch and drive through the vineyards put the day over the top. Don’t hesitate to book this tour.
You made the day very special, great humour, singing songs along the way, with exceptional weather to have a classy picnic on the viewpoint in Hautvillers. I knew from the start you'd be making lifetime memories on a day out in Champagne. Thank you for a wonderful comment. Neil for CTT.
We had the most incredible day with Neil and truly can’t recommend this experience enough. From start to finish, everything felt seamless, thoughtful, and completely personalized for our family. Neil struck the perfect balance of being knowledgeable and engaging without ever feeling overly scripted. We learned so much about the region and champagne, but it also felt relaxed and fun the entire time. He made the day feel really special for us, which is not easy to do with a group that included both adults and kids. What stood out most was how much he genuinely cared about making it a great experience. Every detail was handled, and we were able to just enjoy the day together. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re considering a champagne tour, book with Neil. You will be so glad you did.
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment. Family custom tours are a special opportunity to formulate a day targeting the desires of all involved including me! Luckily the weather was exceptional. We were able to do more than expected thanks to your flexibility in timing. What a way to start off the season! You never know, perhaps you or friends will be back again> Kindest regards Neil for CTT
Neil was a friendly and very knowledgeable guide. The vehicle was clean, comfortable and on time. The tour included the Notre Dame Cathedral in Reims, which is spectacularly beautiful with amazing stained glass and is a must see. The Champagne tastings were outstanding both in quality and quantity and included a memorable tour of a small family owned producer. We have been on many tours and this is as good as it gets.
Thank you for making this tour a great way to finish the season. Outside of tasting the rarest varietals of grapes (Petit Meslier and Pinot Blanc) non Malolactic conversion at Lanson both Black creation and Rosé) but also tasted some of the very grapes still on the vines that go into making champagne. Along the road we saw at least 50 dear 2 ducks, 1 goose, and 2 pheasants. To top it off checked in at Moët & Chandon to find Napolean's bi-corne beaver hat was still in the display window! Great memories with wonderful people. Neil for CTT.
Neil goes above and beyond to maximize your experience. We took our time and enjoyed a relaxing but educational and pleasant journey through the Champagne region and a lovely lunch. This was our second tour and were blessed to visit three different Champagne houses. This tour will not disappoint. Thanks again Neil!
Truly a pleasure to have you both out a second time, and with family. I was happy that we had customised the trip with the other group to have a special unplanned visit at Moët & Chandon in between. Young or a little older the vibe was making it a fun trip with a little on culture, past wars, current wine making business, and of course lots of fabulous wines tasted. Who knows maybe we could make a private tour with all the sites dedicated to WW1 where capitulation was signed, Monuments where the battle of the Marne etc. Champagne is so much more than just a great bubbly drink! Thank you my friends!
