Join us on this tour if you're looking for authentic, home-cooked and street Egyptian food in two different neighborhoods in Cairo. The first area is West Elbalad,downtown Cairo where will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks. A sense of home-cooked food prepared like Egyptian grandmothers used to cook everyday is so nice. The second area is the iconic of the local Cairo where you can explorer Cairo off beaten pavement, the real lives of people, tuk tuks and the local markets. A sandwich of taameya like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences between locals! 6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food. From the moment I signed up for "Cairo Street Food with a Local Family" until long after it ended, Ahmed was an exceptional guide and an even better person. He genuinely treats his guests like family, and that level of care made this experience truly unforgettable. Before the tour, I mentioned that I wouldn't have Wi-Fi afterward and was worried about how I'd order an Uber to get home. Ahmed immediately reassured me not to worry and promised he would make sure I got back safely. He kept his word. He let me use his personal hotspot to book my Uber and stayed with me until it arrived. It's thoughtful, personal gestures like that that leave a lasting impression and show how much he truly cares about the people on his tours. Ahmed is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and passionate about sharing his city. His warm personality and kind heart made everyone feel comfortable from the very beginning. The food tour is an absolute must do for Cairo and it's absolutely amazing . Ahmed is really is informative and really knows a lot . Keep your tummys empty before the tour, trust me you are gonna eat alot
We had a fantastic time. This tour was exactly what we were hoping for and delivered on everything it promised. The food was excellent, but what really made it special was getting to spend the evening with a local family and experience a side of Cairo we never would have seen otherwise. Our host was friendly, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned a ton about the food, culture, and everyday life in Egypt, and never felt like we were just being rushed from one stop to the next. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Cairo. If you want an authentic experience instead of just another tourist activity, this is it.
This is the best tour you can take in Cairo. Ahmed was vey kind, friendly, and knowledgeable about the city and Egypt. He was extremely accommodating and obviously does this because he believes in the mission. The tour was a great way to see the local side of the city that we likely otherwise wouldn't have been able to, and we learned more about Egyptian culture on this tour than we did in our whole time in Cairo. This should be #1 on your list of things to do in Cairo!

Ahmet was an amazing host! He tailored the stops to our adventurous palate, gave us a tour of old Cairo and was an amazing conversation partner — answering all of our questions about Egyptian and Muslim culture. Even after the tour ended, he was responsive and gave us some amazing local shopping suggestions that completed our stay in Cairo as a cherry on top!

This street food tour was incredible!!! It’s a highlight of my trip! Our guide was hospitable, kind, knowledgeable, and helped us to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I would have never tried the places we went to alone. The Egyptian falafel was a favorite stop! I highly recommend this tour and would go on it again in a heartbeat.
