Buenos Aires Walking Tour with Local Guide and Optional Rooftop

Description
The Walking Tour of Buenos Aires is the best way to get to know the city. Our tour is done walking and traveling by public transportation. The idea is to get to know, in a sustainable way and without losing sight of the daily reality of the porteños, the most beautiful and interesting corners of the city. We go out with small groups prioritizing the quality of the excursion. You will experience a unique and real contact experience with our beloved metropolis, visiting the Downtown and its Historical Center, San Telmo, La Boca and Recoleta. Throughout the tour you will taste typical foods such as empanadas and other inherited (and improved) such as ice cream, ending the tour in Recoleta Cemetery. This walking tour is ideal to take pictures and visit areas outside the massive tourist circuit of Buenos Aires.

Itinerary
The walking tour starts at our San Telmo office. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and boasts a vibrant tango and arts scene. Its antique markets, street lighting (known as "faroles"), cobblestones, old buildings and original decor add to the unique bohemian atmosphere of the place.
We will visit the San Telmo market, a building inaugurated in 1897 to supply the great wave of immigrants that arrived at that time. Nowadays, you can still find some shops selling meat, vegetables and other groceries, although most of them offer local gastronomy and specialties from all over the world. Here we will taste some delicious empanadas. We will continue our way along Defensa Street, in the heart of San Telmo neighborhood, until we reach Plaza Dorrego.
We will take a bus to La Boca neighborhood, known for the Boca Juniors stadium and the colorful Caminito street. We will be enchanted by street tango dancing and singing performances and learn how tango, soccer and different immigration influences have made Buenos Aires one of the most irresistible cities in the world.
On board another bus we will enjoy the views of the modern skyscrapers of Puerto Madero. We will see the famous "Puente de la Mujer", an iconic landmark designed by Santiago Calatrava. Its unique, asymmetrical shape resembling a couple dancing the tango is a symbol of Buenos Aires' vibrant culture and architectural innovation.
We'll explore Plaza de Mayo on foot, taking in the iconic landmarks such as the historic Cabildo. Along the way, we'll also catch sight of Buenos Aires' main avenues and pay a visit to the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral.
We will walk around the Plaza de Mayo to see the most important buildings of the country, such as the famous Cabildo. The most important avenues and a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral.
After touring the square, we will go to the Obelisk, a symbol of Buenos Aires. Be a part of this incredible metropolis, going through the real experience of the daily life of an Argentine citizen.
Walk along the lively 9 de Julio avenue, the widest avenue in the world. Historical buildings, monuments and streets will show the changes that the city has undergone since its foundation.
We will arrive at our last stop: the Recoleta neighborhood by subway where we will find beautiful architecture, a large number of museums, elegant cafes and restaurants, exclusive avenues and shopping malls. We will visit the impressive Recoleta Cemetery, resting place of most of the aristocratic families of the country and of well-known historical figures such as Eva Duarte Perón.
After the visit to the museum, those who have chosen the Rooftop option (Wednesday), we will go to Palacio Barolo, an emblematic building inaugurated in 1923 and declared a National Historic Monument. I enjoyed the experience, Federico was very pleasant and I visited iconic places with interesting information.
We did the city tour with Dalila. She took a lot of time for us and gave us a very good overview of Buenos Aires, its history and current situation! Thank you so much!
This is a wonderful tour. I will say you walk for 5 hrs, but we got to see all of Buenos Aires. Our tour guide was terrific. She showed us things we would have never seen on our own. Just a wonderful tour.
Very good guide, pleasant and cultivated, on the history and culture of the city and the country, and knows how to adapt to its customers
Great guide. Above and beyond our hopes. We really appreciate it. Colorful, friendly, helpful and excellent. I recommend it a bunch.
The guide told us almost nothing about the city and the sights. She could say little about the individual locations on request, hardly knew her history and her English was difficult to understand. And then she was on her phone a lot. She practically just took us around town. A hop in hop off bus would have made more sense!
Anahí was our guide and we were very pleased with her knowledge of the city highlights. The pace of the tour was perfect, we had the opportunity to ask questions and we learned a lot about Buenos Aires. We highly recommend this tour and Anahi. She was awesome!
