The whole city of budapest We were given a complete tour of the city’s important landmarks and views across the Danube
Walking in the Buda castle district was great, and I enjoyed the view when looking from there to Hungarian palimen house
Our local guide was very knowledgeable about the city and Hungarian history and culture. He made me want to go back and spend more time in budapest
This was more than a pleasant suprise. I had booked a trip to Prague, but that got cancelled the day before. I was offered the small group tour to Budapest and I went ahead and said yes. Was a little nervous because I had read a few bad reviews about this trip (not sure if it was this tour group or not), but this was the best experience that I have had in Europe in my first 9 days here. Timo, our driver took myself and a very nice couple from Singapore. Yes, his English is a little choppy (my German is worse), but if you paid attention you were able to follow him clear. A real friendly, earnest, helpful person. Did a great job driving us there and all of us talked the entire way both to and from Budapest. Our guide in Budapest, George?, was urbane, informative, and helpful. We had easily over 4 1/2 hours in the city on the tour and then another hour on our own (although Timo said we could stay as long as we needed). The additional treat was that, at the suggestion of one of the other individuals, Timo willingly took us through his home city of Bratislava in Slovakia on the way back. I thought he was just going to do a quick drive through, but he took us to several sites in the city. I was picked up at my hotel at 7:40 and dropped off at 10. This man worked his butt off and deserves to be well paid. I would absolutely recommend this trip.
Budapest is a fascinating and beautiful city, with breathtaking historical sites and vistas, such as the Castle District and Citadel, as well as interesting walking areas in the Past District, Buda District, and along the Danube prominade. Unfortunately, although our guide Agnes was nice and knowledgeable, she rushed us and gave confusing directions several times about when and where to meet, causing confusion and wasted time waiting or finding all group members. Our driver, Duchon, was excellent... Friendly, helpful, and professional, even making sure we could stop at the Citadel lookout (that Agnes excluded).
Tour was cancelled approximately 14 hours before it was supposed to begin. Despite that, I have been receiving daily emails asking me to review the tour experience that Viator cancelled.
The experience of Budapest explained by an excellent guide with a passion for the city and driven by an outstanding driver who was exceptional.
This tour was not what we expected. The driver, Andrew was great and friendly. However, we paid over $1300 for someone to drive us to Budapest and have one guide, Frank (who really did not want to be there) walk us around for 1 mile around "Pest" for about 1.5 hours and just said goodbye. We never went to Buda nor was the driver knowledgeable. The tour was supposed to be for 12 hours but we were back in 10 hours. It would have been much cheaper if we had taken a train to Budapest and took a hopon hopoff tour.
Driver Andrija was great, you need to replicate more of him for your staff! Tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
My second time to visit Budapest and the local tour guide was a little hurried and not outstanding. The driver was excellent.
