Bordeaux to Lascaux and Dordogne Valley Private Sightseeing Tour

Description
Depart from Bordeaux - your hotel; train station; or cruise ship Lascaux Cavern in Dordogne is an unforgettable experience! Over 600 paintings cover the interior walls and ceilings of the cave. The paintings represent mostly large animals, and are around 17,000 years old. Enjoy sightseeing in France with Christian: your English speaking private driver guide. In addition to Lascaux, there are a handful of other caves in the Dordogne region. The grotte de Rouffignac, for example. Here you board a small electric train and ride down deep into a very large cavern. Its also called the cave of 1000 mammoths. Inside you’ll find colorful images of animals; horses, wooly rhinos, mammoths, antelope, saber-tooth cats, and even human figures. We'll also drive through La Roque Saint Christophe cliff settlement ruins and explore the lovely village of Saint Leon-sur-Vezere.

Christian was a great guide for this tour and I would imagine for any tour. He is knowledgeable and patient…2 qualities to look for in a guide
Christian was professional, knowledgeable and very pleasant. (He speaks English and French fluently, Spanish (I think) and a smattering of other languages, too!) He arrived early at 8:20a.m. at the hotel for an 8:30 pickup, and was a very good driver. We felt safe with him. We arrived at Lascaux with 10 minutes to spare before our tour began. Lascaux was just wonderful ! It is a fantastic museum and exhibit, expertly done. We ate at the café de Lascaux. It was just a panini, but it was tasty. Christian then drove us to tour the caves at Rouffignac. Although we had never before heard of Rouffignac, it was very interesting. It took roughly 2-2.5 hours to return to the hotel. The ride was smooth. We got back to the hotel at about 5:30p.m. It was a long day for us, but very worth it.
Merci gracieusement d'avoir pris le temps de me rendre cette evaluation positif. C’était un veritable plaisir de partager cette journée avec vous. Thank you! Should you decide to return to this region; I'd love to show you around the Basque Country, its marvelous!
It was a perfect day. Christian is pleasant, knowledgeable and provided a comfortable ride. Lascaux is outstanding. The museum and tour were excellent, as is their restaurant. Rouffignac cave was a pleasant surprise. Tour was in French, but the guide was considerate of English-speaking visitors and answered questions when asked. It is a very fine tour.
Merci Monsieur L ! It was a pleasure meeting you and showing you a little part of the Dordogne valley in Southwest France. There's lots more to see and visit in the Dordogne, and throughout the Southwest of France... I will petition the Grotte de Rouffignac to provide tours in English as well; perhaps someday this will happen.
