The drive was beautiful through the iconic Dordogne region, but our guide's knowledge seemed pretty superficial.

The 4 of us are seniors and we were glad we inquired in advance about the type of car the guide had. We ended up agreeing to pay the guide twice the fee so he could rent a van. The van was fine, however, the three in our group sitting in the second and 3rd row of the van could not hear any commentary and there was no accommodation to amplify his commentary. Also the van did not have a stool to make it easier to enter and exit the van. What commentary that was heard was disappointing. It was largely what any of us could have read off a map, like the name of a castle. We chose not to pay extra and enter the caves which our guide explained would typically have to be paid for and reserved in advance.

Must visit this part of France

The prehistoric caves in Lascaux and particularly Ruffinac were outstanding sites to visit. Our guide Christian is one of best we've ever toured with. He is kind, knowledgeable, and went out of his way to make our experience perfect.

Glad We Decided To Splurge

The excursion was pricey, but worth it. The quaint little towns along the Dordogne are incredibly picturesque and are the epitome of beautiful French countryside. Christian, our guide/driver is very knowledgeable, and he couldn’t have been nicer. Definitely a highlight of our 11-day stay in the Bordeaux area.

Operator response

Merci! It was a pleasure meeting you and visiting the Dordogne. 🙂
