The experience is as described, a ride up in the TransMiCable and then a tour around El Mirador and Favela El Paraiso, with a stop in a nice bakery and a local artist's workshop. The guide was very helpful in answering questions and providing an insight and our security guard had some special stories to share. I definitely think that you should visit Ciudad Bolivar if you are in Bogota, as it really sheds light into an important part of Colombian history.
This was a truly incredible tour. The guide was fantastic and walking around this area was such an interesting experience. The views from the top are jaw dropping. This is an absolute must for anyone visiting Bogotá.
This was an EXCELLENT tour, both for me (who is interested in substantive topics such as history, social realities, and public policies) AND for my six-year old granddaughter (who had been longing to ride a cable car, and who enjoyed the wonderful park and beautiful murals at the top of the ride in Paraiso). David Cruz was a superb tour guide, highly professional, very knowledgeable, and flexible and accommodating of our interests. His assistant in Paraiso, a “social leader” in a nearby community, was also a pleasure to spend time with. David was super easy to coordinate and communicate with, and organized a friendly taxi driver to take us to and from our hotel. Altogether a truly wonderful afternoon. Highly recommended!
very interesting to see a different side of bogota!
Today we had an amazing tour with "Bogotá Colors." May, its creator and tour guide, is a young person with great talent for creating murals and telling his story in Ciudad Bolivar. We took the TransMilenio, then took the TransMiCable to the Mirador El Paraíso Station. Then he shows us his artworks on the facades of the houses in the neighborhood, we had coffee at a local business (supporting the local economy), then we had the opportunity to have a painting workshop with aerosols, and finally we went to the El Paraíso viewpoint, perhaps one of the best and most unexpected views of Bogotá. Wider than from Monserrate. This is a little-known tour, but undoubtedly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We went early on Friday and by 2 PM we were already back home on the TransMilenio. Very safe, entertaining, and you learn a lot about Bogotá. It has the option of guides in English and offers several tour options. Feel encouraged to discover another side of Bogotá.
I’m so glad I booked this tour. Our guide, David, confirmed the time and pickup the day before. The driver was very punctual to pick everyone up. Then the guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. It felt very safe and was a lot of fun. The snacks were delicious too. Highly recommend this tour.
Jhon was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable, very friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to see a different, yet still very vibrant, side of the city.
First impressions do go a long way. We were greeted by Mr. Jairo at our hotel after Which we were transported to the TransMiCabel station to begin our tour. At the station we were greeted by Mr.Jorge (Our tour guide who portrays a very pleasant and welcoming attitude throughout ) throughout the tour we were kept informed about the town and the history of the country. We got to take some spectacular photos, a video taken by Mr. Jeorge which I can never forget and also we were treated to some good food in the town. Everyone was friendly, even to the guy who took us around with his huge dogs. It is a very busy town and there’s a lot to see. If you intend to go be sure to have some good shoes and ensure you grab something to eat before you depart for the day.
It was a very interesting tour as most Colombians that we spoke to rarely if ever visited this area of Bogotá. Our driver arrived early, the car was very clean and he was an excellent driver. He drove us to the entrance to the cable car where we met our guide. The cable car is really pretty darn cool. It is the main transportation for the people who live on the mountain side. It is only about $1 US to ride the cable car. Once at the top we met a local leader who kept an eye out for our group to ensure our safety. I never felt unsafe during the tour. We learned about the history of the area and how it came to be so populated and how it is changing with continued immigration from Venezuela. The views were stunning. We stopped at a local bakery for a delicious snack and coffee. My advice is to bring a rain jacket as the weather is very unpredictable and wear comfy shoes.
Felt more like a training session for the tour guide trainee than a tour for me. Most of the the tour was the guide explaining and training a person wanting to be a tour guide. Riding in the cable car was the only part I enjoyed.
Hola Brittany! Thanks for your comment! We are training local young people to be guides that's why that day was an extra person of the same community that you could ask and even interact for a better learning of the area. Sorry if that bothered you but we keep our guide role with you as a tourist.
