Itinerary
This tour takes you through one of the most popular towns on the Island. Runaway Bay is naturally beautiful and is certainly one of the most scenic areas in Jamaica. It sits between the beautiful, crisp coastline to one side and the lush green mountains to the other. There is much debate as to how the town of Runaway Bay got its name. some people believe it got the name because that is where the last batch of Spanish soldiers ran away from when they were retreating from the attacking British Troops lead by Governor Ysassi right after the 1655 British invasion of Jamaica, while other argue that it was the point from which the Slaves from inland plantations used as an escape route to runaway to Cuba. Get your cameras ready to go as you make your way through this area.
Bob Marley was born on February 6th, 1945. He died on May 11th, 1981. Visiting this small town is a priority for all tourists, cruise ship and stopover passengers alike from Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Montego Bay and from as far as Negril in the west. Nine Miles is a tiny village in hills of St. Ann where the reggae legend, Bob Marley was born, and fittingly, the place he’s now laid to rest. Although Bob Marley moved to Kingston at age 13 to live with his mother and to advance his music career, he would often return to Nine Miles to get away from the fast pace life of Kingston. Home is where the heart is and Bob Marley wrote several of his hit songs when he was in St. Ann. Nine Miles Jamaica was always his home and to have the full experience of Bob Marley; you will have to visit this town. A tour of this settlement will leave you with a greater understanding of the legend Bob became; in fact, the community today is pretty much how it was in Bob Marley’s early days. A Rastafarian tour guide will be on hand to guide you around the property and answer all your questions. Still present, is his first home and the very bed he slept in as a young child also as an adult when he would return on his many “cooling out” visits. The rock that he used as a pillow, on which he would relax. Quite a few guests have said that they have felt the presence of Bob Marley. The Nine Mile Tour includes his birth and resting place, what he liked to do and Mount Zion, the spot where he drew his inspiration from to write his songs. Visit the nearby Ethiopian church where his body was laid to rest with his guitar. Please remove your shoes before you enter as a sign of respect. Feel free to look around. At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your hotel.

Driver Kirk was extremely safe. And all staff at the location was very friendly. Thanks for a great experience.
First time in Jamaica. Scheduled excursions ahead of time through Viator. First excursion was supposed to be the 2nd day of trip & our 2nd excursion was scheduled for our 3rd day. The day of our arrival i received a notification asking if I could change the date of my excursion (which I could not, that's why I booked in advance...HELLO) due to not enough people...but was also told in the same email that this is NOT a cancellation. On the day of our 1st excursion, sitting in lobby waiting for our guide about 15 min before the excursion start time, proceed with pulling up my virtual ticket, and then at that moment see it says REFUNDED. No call, no email or text cancelation, no notice. So here I am thinking I'm going on my excursion through Viator, but nope. BEST ADVICE....GO TO THE AMSTAR DESK IN LOBBY. THEY HAVE SAME EXCURSIONS AND...THEY CAN FIND YOU A PRIVATE DRIVER. WE PAID $150 FOR DRIVER, WHO TOOK US 9 MILE (SCENIC DRIVE), KFC IN BROWNSTONE, AND STOPS AT LOCAL SHOPS. YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ADMISSION TO 9 MILE, BUT FOR A PRIVATE DRIVER (WHO WAS FUN, KNOWLEDGABLE, CHILL, AND JUST A REALLY GOOD DUDE), YOU CAN DO THE EXCURSION & MORE CHEAPER!!!! VIATOR....YOU NEED BETTER TOUR PARTNERS AND BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! NEVER AGAIN & I WILL BE SHARING MY EXPERIENCE ABOUT VIATOR.

Being on this tour gave me a sense of spirituality. The staff and natives were amazing. I will definitely be back!
A great trip to Nine Mile to see Bob Marley's birth place and where he is laid to rest. Well organised, great rep on the bus, a great guide at Nine mile too.
It was very nice and tour guys was great. We had blast. Learn alot. People were friendly. Wish it had a lunch stop
The whole tour was a fascinating experience. Great tour guide with a lot of knowledge. Very peaceful. Be prepared for a lot of walking.
It was a very fun, exciting ride on the windy streets up the mountain. Our driver was fantastic. He showed a documentary on Bob Marley to get us excited about the tour. Once we arrived at 9 mile the tour was very engaging. Bob Marley's birthplace and burial site in Nine Mile, Jamaica. The trip was incredibly captivating, exhilarating, and deeply moving.
Amazing experience the driver tour guide everyone was amazing such an incredible experience. My wife who is not a bob Marley fan like me was even really happy she came and enjoyed herself as well
The experience was awesome, and I feel like everyone should do this if you are in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. The only issue I had was our pickup time was 8:55am, and the driver didn't pick us up until 10:05am. Other than that, the driver was amazing and he navigated the roads like a pro. The trip is about an hour up the mountains, which can be quite scary when cars are coming in the other direction.
