Not Blue Grotto

I booked this month's in advance because Blue Grotto was the main attraction. They were half an hour late. We spent the morning doing stops and at the time to visit Blue Grotto they said sea level was too high and we couldn't go. This was supposed to be the highlight of the tour. They are local, they know and could have told us in advance. Very disappointed.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that the Blue Grotto could not be visited during your tour. However, we'd like to clarify that it had already been officially closed for several hours before your arrival due to sea conditions. Rather than going there immediately only to find it closed, the skipper deliberately left the Blue Grotto as the final stop, hoping that the authorities would reopen it during the excursion and give our guests the opportunity to visit. Unfortunately, the closure remained in effect until the end of the tour. This decision was made entirely in our guests' best interest and reflects our standard practice whenever there is a possibility that the attraction may reopen. For this reason, we respectfully disagree that the itinerary was poorly planned. On the contrary, it was adapted in real time in an effort to maximize your chances of visiting the Blue Grotto despite circumstances entirely beyond our control. While we understand your disappointment, the temporary closure of a site managed exclusively by the local authorities cannot reasonably be considered a failure on the part of the tour operator, and therefore does not constitute grounds for a refund. Finally, we cannot help but observe that the one-star rating appears to reflect your dissatisfaction with our refusal to issue a refund, rather than the quality of the tour itself. Your own review acknowledges the friendliness of our crew, while the sole reason for your disappointment was the official closure of the Blue Grotto, an event entirely beyond any operator's control. We believe future readers will be able to distinguish between those two very different issues. We nevertheless appreciate your kind words about our crew and thank you for choosing Sail & Fun. We wish you all the best in your future travels.

Not Blue Grotto

I booked this tour months in advance because the Blue Grotto was the main attraction. I understand that sea conditions are unpredictable, but I don’t understand why the itinerary wasn’t planned accordingly. Instead of going to the Blue Grotto first, we spent the morning visiting other stops, and the Blue Grotto was left for last—only to be told it was closed. If this is the highlight of the tour, why wasn’t it prioritized? The crew was friendly, but the planning and communication were disappointing. I am requesting a partial refund since the tour did not deliver its main advertised attraction.

Great crew and boat

Rosy and francois provided a delightful boat cruise to the blue grotto and beyond… the swim time was the best part. Delicious apps and drinks as well. The boat was very nice and not crowded as only 12 or so on our trip, and onboard toilet very nice, too. Highly recommend

Great but think hard about the grottos

Trip was great because the staff was very friendly and Capri is beautiful. That said, I am not sure I am convinced that one needs to see all those grottos…except for the blue one, they are much less spectacular than the coastline itself, and the entry into the blue grotto is really onerous if you are more than two people in the boat and/or are tall and/or movement-impaired in any way

The boat trip to the blue...

The boat trip to the blue grotto is the highlight of our trip in Italy. It was just perfect. Friendly captain and staff. 12 people on board on a little yacht, beautiful and well equipped. They even brought up Champaign, drinks and food enough for everyone during the 3 hour tours. Everyone has a lot of fun, kids love it. The boat went around the Capri island, stopped at the blue grotto allowed us to go into the cave on a small rowing boat at a separate ticket bought on site, well worth it, quite a experience for kids and myself. The boat also stopped for us jump into the water swim for about 20 minutes, a bonus on a hot day. I strongly recommend it to everyone, this is the best way to see the beautiful island Capri.

Disappointing

Paid tour, they sent time and place of the meeting but when I arrived I did not find any responsible. I searched several places nearby, asked countless people and found that they did not send the name of the company that would make the tour. I sent a message to Viator but no response. Anyway!!! I missed the ride!!! Total disorganization. You should put a responsible person with the name of Viator in the marked place, with a list of names of the customers because the locations are full and confused. I do not recommend

Operator response

We are sorry that you missed the tour. However, as confirmed in our previous communications, the boat departed at the scheduled time with other guests already on board. Unfortunately, a delay in your ferry arrival could not justify delaying the departure and impacting all other passengers. We kindly suggest allowing additional travel time when connecting with ferries, especially during the busy summer season. We would also like to note that, although our terms did not require it, we approved a full refund of your booking as a gesture of goodwill. For these reasons, we do not believe that the circumstances described were caused by any organizational issue on our part.

An amazing experience with extremely hospitable hosts, the driver was a great driver and the hostess had great knowledge and people skills. Both the captain and hostess made a genuine effort with everyone and made it an amazing experience.

Loved swimming in the Green Cave

Great day trip, beautiful views, excellent swimming! The stop for lunch can be confusing. Lunch is not included in the price so you should know that you are free to eat anywhere or not eat at all and swim instead.
