Fourth Avenue - Ground Zero of the Civil Rights Movement

App and tour was easy to install and operate. Excellent directions. Interesting and informative tour. Hit the highlights of Project C, the Children’s March with glimpses of Birmingham’s musical heritage. However, the tour should include the site where Dr. King was jailed and locations from the Freedom Rides.

Operator response

Ok 👍🏽

This was ok … once set up we did like you could stop & start but we missed an actual person taking us round & being able to ask questions on the spot! It also randomly kept switching off in both our devices. That said the information seemed solid when it worked.

We Learned a lot!

This was a great deal. We felt like we were walking around with our own personal tour guide and the walking directions were easy to follow.

Operator response

Thank you for the great review and taking the tour! The stories in Birmingham are powerful. While in Alabama check our tour tours in Montgomery and Selma, both also have powerful stories! Thanks again! Greg @ walkntours. If you have any questions contact me anytime at greg@walkntours.com

Interesting & informative info at each stop!

We learned a lot of interesting and relevant info at each stop that enhanced our experience. However, when we moved on to the next site, they still talked more about the last one, so we had to either backtrack or just listen to more of it on the next site. They should just cover it once and move on! Overall however, it was a good app & info!

It was okay.

It was an okay experience. I perfer a group tour with a real person tourguide than walking from places to places and having a pre-recorded MP3 player on my phone to explain what is happening. That's just my personal preference.

Great Tour on a Saturday Afternoon!

We did this tour late on a Saturday afternoon and had such a great experience! We learned a lot and enjoyed seeing important sites in the Civil Rights Movement of the early 1960’s.

Informative go-at-your-own-pace! This was my first tour using this format. It was great!

This was a great way to explore an intentional area. We had limited time and wanted to tour at our convenience. After purchasing the tour, just wait a few minutes for email and text with additional instructions. It did require downloading an app. The tour is announced thru your phone speaker, with very clear instructions on where to walk, when to turn a corner, or cross over an intersection. It did drain my phone battery though, so be fully charged before beginning. Recorded explanation was clear and thorough. Highly recommend!!
