Itinerary
In a 3,30 hrs walking food tour you will dive into this world of culinary experiences, during which you will try only the best dishes of each restaurant and tapas bar. Sipping a glass of wine or local beer you will be able to feel this unique lifestyle, based on hard work but also moments of pleasure, social life and relax. We will walk through the beautiful streets of the old town, passing by the most famous monuments, while our local expert will give an insight into the history and culture. Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may slightly change due to the season and the availability of our partners.
You will start your culinary adventure from this iconic monument, a church devoted to Saint Nicholas, patron of sailors. After a quick introduction to Bilbao and Basque Country, we will move towards Plaza Nueva, one of the most vibrant spots in town and here you will discover what Basque cuisine has to offer. Indulge in the most local pintxos, of course served with traditional drinks that matches perfectly to these ingredients. Some examples? croquetas, huevo mollet, Patatas a la Riojana or Morcilla or Grillo!
Let's head towards the river Nervión - the river that flows across the city - to continue our journey in Basque cuisine. In a delicious tapas bar, you will try some of the locals' favourites, such as salt cod fritters, squids or ham croquettes and swordfish pintxo!
We will continue our stroll across the streets of the most ancient district in Bilbao to have a stop in an adorable cheese shop. Here you will enjoy a tasting of traditional Basque cheese, paired with a delicious glass of txakoli wine: a savory mix of cheese selected by the cheese specialist from the old town. And after a taste of delicious Basque cheese, don't forget to pass by one of the best pastry shop and bakery in town, where everything is handmade. Here you will try a delicious Basque dessert, such as Pastelito Vasco!
Erribera Kalea is the promenade on the Nerviron river and that's where we will end our culinary adventure, in a traditional taberna near the shore! Have a sip of local wine and raise your glass to Basque cuisine!

Cristina was a wonderful guide - super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny.
The Guide did a great job, educating us about the different tapas, how they were made, where the ingredients came from. She was also friendly accepting, and very warm toward everyone.
What a fantastic introduction to the Bilbao food scene with great knowledge of the area, culture, history and food. We booked for a family of 4 with two kids under the age of 13. Our guide, Adela, adjusted food and drink choices to be more suited to the young members of our party, whilst allowing the adults to have the full experience. It was a fun, cost effective way to see parts of the old city and experience local food and we would highly recommend.
Adele was friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. We went to some cool off the tourist trail places. Great fun.
Josu was amazing—super friendly, talkative, and clearly loves his city. He took us to some really nice local spots and I really enjoyed his stories about Bilbao and how it was in the past.
Adela was excellent! Client focused, locally mind thinking and knowledgeable to an extraordinary extend! Just a pleasure to explore with her this beautiful city. Thank you Adela!
Wonderful and varied tastings throughout the old town. Our guide was lovely but overly focused on 1 guest so we did not hear or get as much info as we preferred.
Excellent tour with a great variety of pintxos. Thank you!
Absolutely brilliant tour hosted by Kaya. It was like meeting up with an old friend you have not seen in ages except this friend spent more than three hours introducing us to the history, culture, food and drink of the Basque Country - an epicurean delight. Kaya was an engaging, knowledgeable and voluble spokesperson for the Euskadi cultural traditions, celebrated cuisine and language and is a deserving recipient of any and all plaudits she might receive - Eskerrik Asko!
It was a fantastic tour! Very informative and funny. Adela knew a lot and was very pleasant.
