It was a gem of a trip! Our guide, Thia, was amazing. She was extremely knowledgeable about the island. She was so patient with all the questions. Definitely would do it again!
Fantastic tour well-paced small group setting. Comfortable ride and knowledgeable guide. Took a lot of photos and spent good amount of time at each attraction. Money well spent. If you have limited time on big island and you have one tour to take on land, this is the deal.
Our guide, Derek, provided interesting insights throughout the day. He was most instrumental in gaining access to Volcano National Park just moments before it was closed to visitors because of volcanic activity. Because of his resourcefulness , we experienced a once in in lifetime eruptive episode at Kilauea with a huge fountain of lava. All the planned stops were worthwhile, and I definitely recommend this activity as a great way to learn about the Big Island.
Hey there! Took an Island 🏝️ and Volcano 🌋 Tour today. It was a huge loop around the southern part of Hawaii. We went down from Kona on the coast and thru the Volcano National Park, up thru Hilo, and across the island back to Kona. Took almost 12 hours to do this drive with all the stops. We stopped at Greenwell Coffee Farm, Punalu'u Bakery "The Southernmost Bakery in USA," Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Volcano National Park, Thurston Lava Tube, Rainbow Falls, and last Big Island Candy.
This is the first thing you should do. Thia was an excellent guide and provided a great experience for my family and I to see what the Big Island has to offer.
Our guide Derek was awesome! Very knowledgeable, friendly and patient with our large family.
Best activity of this trip. Friends said this was a must do experience and they were all right. It was awesome. The most amazing lazy river down a mountain ever. The 36' plunge, wait 36" plunge was awesome!
We had an outstanding full-day tour experience in Hawaii. The day started perfectly — they arrived early, and we didn’t have to wait at all. From the very beginning, everything felt well organized and thoughtfully planned. Our first stop was a charming local coffee shop where we sampled their homegrown blends. Just outside, in the garden, we were able to pick and taste fresh fruit directly from the trees. We then visited the southernmost doughnut shop in the U.S., which was a fun and unexpected highlight. The natural landmarks were truly impressive. We explored a stunning black sand beach, followed by a visit to the volcano national park, where we saw steam vents and an enormous crater that was absolutely breathtaking. Walking through the lava tube was another unforgettable experience. We had lunch inside the park — the food was excellent, and the view overlooking the crater made it even better. The day continued with stops at a local bakery and candy store, and finally a beautiful waterfall that was the perfect way to close the tour. Throughout the entire day, our guide (Grant) continuously shared fascinating facts and stories about the island. His knowledge and passion added tremendous value to the experience. The van was equipped with a microphone, so everyone could clearly hear him during the drives, and there were plenty of bathroom breaks, which made the long day very comfortable. Overall, this tour exceeded expectations. It was comprehensive, well-paced, informative, and filled with incredible sights. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the best of the island in a single day. PS - We did not travel with children and neither did the others in our tour.
Thia was awesome! Personable and fun to hang with for half the day. I have been on tours on the islands but I love how she taught us new things about the Big Island.I hope to go on another tour on my next trip to the Big Island. Coffee tour was fun. Malasadas, black sand beach, turtles, checked out the volcano, lava tube, got to hold tephra, yummy lunch at Volcano House, fun stops at Big Island Candies,Farmer's Market(Kula Shave Ice was a hit!) and Rainbow Falls. Towel service, snacks, and drinks along the way.Go Thia! I wish you all the best.
Outstanding Guide, Toby. Very knowledgeable, considerate, and humorous.
