First place in the tour is Panoramic view of Goreme. You get information about history, formation of Cappadocia while watching the fairy chimneys. Following the information, free time for photograph.
After driving about 40 minutes, arrival to Underground City. This underground city was firstly used by the local people as a natural deep freeze, later by the late Romans as a shelter against potential Arabian invasions. With the clear explanations of your guide you will spend almost 1 hour here.
Ihlara Canyon is 52 km. away from Underground City.Approximately 45 minutes later, you will be in the entrance of Ihlara Valley.Ihlara Valley was formed by the volcanic actions of Mt. Hasan, next to Ihlara Valley. Afterwards, Melendiz River eroded the valley for millions of years besides the layers cracked and fell down. Eventually, 80 meter- deep canyon was composed. Whole Valley is 14 km. length. In the past, generally Christians lived in the several parts of the Valley; also they carved churches and painted them. You will hike about 3,5 km.Hiking will last 1hour 15m.Then you will arrive to Restaurant for Lunch
1 hour for the lunch in the Ihlara town. You will start with the soup and salad, later you will able choose one of the main dishes from the list. Lunch will be over with season fruits.
Our tour will go on with another movie- set-like place, Selime Monastery. At first look, the monastery looks like a castle, but shelters, churches, chapels, bedrooms, storages and big cathedral proves us its being a monastery. You get information about the monastic life in Cappadocia.
Climbing to Selime monastery will exhaust you, probably. But till you arrive to Pigeon Valley, you will have about 1 hour to rest. Also, our guide will mention about some traditions, cultures and stories about Anatolia on the way. Upon arrival to Pigeon Valley, pigeons will meet you on the top of the valley. Pigeons have always been important for Cappadocian people. Their eggs and droppings were used for different purposes. For this reason, local people carved houses for them to the slopes of valley. You will see the reason why people call them “houses”, when you see them.

Stoneland organized our green tour and ballooning with Butterfly Balloons. Their communication was very good and both experiences were very professional and well organized. The green tour does require a fair amount of hiking and going up and down stairs and narrow passages in the underground city which was well worth it. The history and experience was amazing. Lunch was well organized, professional and tasty. The tour was about 10 hours with a reasonable amount of driving (2.5 hours? which was a good time to rest and learn about the next stop)- the driver was very safe
This was a nice complement to the Red tour we booked the day before. Liked this one as it included the monastery and underground city. We walked a lot up and down so be prepared, and some of the passages were very narrow and small. We were up for the challenge and our guide was very accommodating if others were not. The operators should change the lunch description as the restaurant is no longer by their river; learned it closed during Covid but opened in a different location. Was still outside, simple but good.
This tour was very well run to the point that our guide, Sadat, altered the route as rain was scheduled for the afternoon - he was right to do this! Very informative and Sadat’s knowledge of the history was excellent.
We booked last minute in the by cappadocia office. We said we specifically wanted to walk along Ilharia river which we had heard other green tours did. Once paid and on the bus the guide announced she was not walking along the ilharia River. We were then trapped on the bus on a hot day having brief visits at view points and way too much time at a jewelery shop, turkish delight shop and what can only be described as a cheap canteen for lunch, We asked for a refund and got sent packing. We feel conned out of 47 euros. Check the detail itinerary before booking.
Hi Dear, Thank you for your review. However, we believe there has been a misunderstanding, as we are Stoneland Travel and we do not have a sales office in Cappadocia — only an operations office. We do not make direct street or walk-in sales. In addition, our Green Tour always includes walking in Ihlara Valley. In fact, our daily entrance records for the Ihlara Valley museum ticket platform are officially registered. We also do not stop at jewellery shops or dried fruit/turkish delight shopping stores during our tours. Furthermore, we have no record of refusing or discussing a €47 refund request matching your description. For these reasons, it is very likely that you joined the tour with a different tour operator and accidentally posted the review on our page. We kindly ask you to check which agency you booked with and leave your review on the correct company page. Thank you for your understanding.
The various visits were outstanding. It's a pity that two stops were part of the route where candies and onyx jewelry were offered. However, the guide Mehmet was the best I have experienced in recent years, knowledgeable and super friendly. The underground city tour and the valley hike (about 6 km) were the absolute highlights. But the other viewpoints were also very beautiful. The trip lasted from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, but it felt much shorter. The bus was comfortable, we received a bottle of water, and the driver had a perfect driving style. Absolutely recommendable tour!!

The cave cathedrals are amazing and the reason to take this tour. A bonus is the shopping experiences thrown in - if you want to mix up the unique historical themes and sights with a bit of costume jewellery shopping then this is the tour for you! Yes, a visit to a jewellery outlet is included. You don’t see much of this this nowadays. To round it off at the end of a long day there’s a 20 minute stop at a lolly shop. Between the shopping there’s also a couple of stops at cathedral caves.

Booked last minute due to cancelled balloon flight. We had a great time. We saw so much that is just not possible without a car. We were collected from our hotel in Göreme at 09.30 and got back around 18.00 - so it's a big day and you certainly get your money's worth. The lunch was simple, but it was authentic. We enjoyed it. The sights you see from the road alone are worth coming for. Our tour guide Marve was lovely. She was knowledgeable and funny and made it a memorable tour.
