Beneath The Streets Underground History Tour

Description
Go underground on a 1-hour walking history tour through Seattle's original neighborhood. Our experienced guides lead small groups above, and beneath, Pioneer Square to the street level that existed in the 1890s. Explore underground pathways that were built more than 120 years ago, learning details on early Seattle history, why these spaces were built, and how they have been used (and misused) over the years. Marvel at how this former tidal flat has since transformed into one of the 20 largest cities in the United States.

Beneath the Streets focuses on factual, historical information that details the birth of our city, 1890’s architecture, and several other stories including the Klondike Gold Rush, Skid Row, and the Coast Salish Peoples that first inhabited the area. Our tour guides participate in workshops on cultural traditions and history with special guest historians and Native Tribal members as continual professional development.
We cover four city blocks of historic Pioneer Square and explore three underground passageways originally constructed in the 1890's. You'll see and hear the history of the neighborhood from both the original and current street levels.

I did this tour 13 years ago and remember it was better. This time it felt “meh”. Half of the tour is above ground. There’s probably 15 mins worth of interesting history, the rest is filler.
We thoroughly enjoyed or tour. I dont recall our guides name, but he was excellent! Funny, passionate , and a wealth of knowledge. Tour was worth the money and I would highly recommend it.
We had our tour with Jen and she was just amazing, we learned so much interesting history and she made a very good use of our time.
We went on the adult 18+ tour about the adult side of the underground with Mike who was engaging, funny and very informative. If you have a chance I'd recommend you go.
Great experience with very knowledgeable guide. She kept our attention, told some funny stories, reminded us not to try to pet rats, and had a lot more to give than she had time for. Small museum at the ticket area was nice to look around before the tour. Would recommend especially for anyone who likes history, weather, engineering, and rats.
Jen did a great job. Would do again
Great, informative walk. Part of US history I knew nothing about. Our guide, Eowyn, was fabulous. She added quite a bit of humor into the tour. I highly recommend going.
Our guide was Carter, who was funny and engaging. We learned a lot about Seattle's history and had a few belly laughs on the way!
We had Max on the tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and made this experience excellent. I would recommend everyone to come here for this tour!
Our guide Patti was excellent!
