The wine tasting...

The wine tasting afternoon was very enjoyable. Our guide, Roman, was very knowledgeable and personable. The two vineyards were hospitable and offered a good variety of wines to taste. Each wine was described and properly served. It was a lovely afternoon.

Vineyard Experience

This was a very interesting tour. We visited two vineyards, and learned a great deal about the growing techniques. The vineyards do not use pesticides, and pick the grapes by hand- no mechanical pickers. The tour guide was excellent both in knowledge of wine and keeping to the schedule.

An afternoon well spent

Really fun afternoon with our guide Amandine - we went to multiple vineyards, learned a lot and tried lots of very delicious wines!

2 winery visits. 1st was informative, interesting, wine good, not great. 2nd was brief, better wine. Not enough time to wander and take photos. Guide was personable, knowledgeable and spoke good english

Operator response

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. We’re glad you appreciated your guide’s knowledge, personality, and English, as well as the chance to visit two different wineries. A half-day in Beaujolais is always a first glimpse of a very rich region, and we understand it can leave you wishing for more time to wander and take photos. We hope it gives you a lovely reason to come back and explore more. The Tasty Lyon Team

This was great tour, it...

This was great tour, it was reasonably priced and the amount of people were limited so it made it a great experience. It felt very boutique. We really enjoyed!

Baby in beaujolais

My husband and I took our 1 year old on this tour. We had to buy a ticket for our baby which was a bit disappointing but they were great about arranging a car seat for us. It was clean and in great condition. The tour guide was excellent, so friendly! And the wine and experience was wonderful. It was nice to get outside of the city and see the villages that love and produce wonderful wine. Thank you.

Operator response

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. We are delighted to hear that the car seat arrangement was smooth and that the guide’s friendliness helped make the day even more enjoyable. It is lovely to know you enjoyed discovering the Beaujolais villages and wines as a family. We also appreciate your note regarding the baby ticket. The Tasty Lyon Team

Our guide Rachel was...

Our guide Rachel was amazing and provided a wonderful history about the region. We were hosted by the owners/family members at each winery and you can really see the passion they have for the land, what they do, and their traditions (especially with Denis). Highly recommended. My only regret is not doing a full day tour!

The wine tour was great...

The wine tour was great and everyone enjoyed the wines! Our first location was at a smaller vineyard and the winemaker was very charming. I wish we had been able to explore the vines more but enjoyed it greatly still. The second stop was more of a store/shop and the winemaker there was on the phone with an issue for the duration of our visit but our guide talked us through all the wines. This was more of a rest at a table without a tour or any exploration which was a bit of a let down. Overall, we enjoyed it but wish it had been longer or more involved.

Great Experience

The tour was good, helped by a good group of people on the tour. The guide was knowledgeable and gave interesting information about the area, which was beautiful. The highlight was the visit to La Domaine de la Roche winery. The winemker (Mathieu, I think) was excellent. Gave fantastic insight into the world of Beaujolais wine and the surrounding area, The second stop was OK – but really just a tasting. Overall a good experience.

Get Better Guides

The Beaujolais guide, Maureen, was not good. She was there to do the bare basics. And was too obsessed with hurrying back and we could feel it. She must have said at least 5 times, “we can’t spend too much time as I have another tour to be back for.” I would NOT recommend her. In fact, I saw her an hour after returning and asked for directions help, she would barely and minimally answered that was not helpful.

Hello Craig, Thank you for your comment. Marine was indeed forced to shake up the visits a little. It was a shared tour for which you arrived 15 minutes late, which made the whole group late. And despite a late departure, we must respect the times set with our service providers who welcome us at agreed times. We hope that you still enjoyed the Beaujolais wines!
