Description

Ride through Normandy's countryside in a vintage sidecar, along quiet backroads that tour buses never reach. No crowds, no rush — just winding roads, open fields, and the kind of freedom that comes with the wind in your face and the landscape all around you. At Omaha Beach, you walk the same sand where thousands landed on June 6th, 1944. At Pointe du Hoc, you stand at the top of the cliffs the U.S. Army Rangers climbed under fire — the craters are still there. At the American Cemetery, rows of white crosses stretch further than you expect, and the place tends to quiet people down. In between, a local cider tasting gives the day a different kind of moment — unhurried, grounded in the region's own story. We've spent years getting to know these roads and these sites. Hop in, and we'll share what we love about them with you.

As a charming fishing port, Port-en-Bessin played a crucial role during the Normandy landings, serving as an important logistics hub for the Allied forces. Longues-sur-Mer is home to a well-preserved German coastal battery. The four artillery casemates overlook the English Channel and were part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall defense system. You'll have the opportunity to explore these imposing fortifications and learn about the intense battles that took place here on D-Day. The site offers remarkable views of the surrounding landscape and provides a glimpse into the challenges faced by both Allied and German forces during the invasion.

30 min

Stand on the sands where history was made and gain a profound understanding of the pivotal events that unfolded at Omaha Beach. On June 6, 1944, this iconic stretch of coastline became the battleground for one of the most consequential military operations in history: the D-Day invasion. As part of Operation Overlord, American troops stormed ashore under a hail of enemy fire, facing daunting obstacles and heavy casualties. Yet, their unwavering resolve and extraordinary bravery paved the way for the liberation of Europe. Today, Omaha Beach stands as a hallowed ground, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by thousands of Allied soldiers who fought and died here. With its pristine sands and serene waters juxtaposed against the haunting remnants of war, Omaha Beach offers visitors a solemn opportunity to reflect on the price of freedom and the enduring legacy of those who gave their all for it.

50 min

Perched atop the cliffs of Colleville-sur-Mer overlooking Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery stands as a solemn tribute to the courage and sacrifice of over 9,000 Allied soldiers who gave their lives during the Normandy Campaign of World War II. Established in 1944, this meticulously maintained cemetery provides a poignant reminder of the price of freedom. Its rows of white marble crosses and Stars of David offer a sobering sight, while the Memorial, inscribed with the names of over 1,500 missing soldiers, serves as a timeless symbol of honor and remembrance. Visiting this sacred ground is not only an opportunity to pay respects to the fallen but also to reflect on the profound impact of their bravery and commitment to liberty.

80 min

Set on the cliffs of Normandy, Pointe du Hoc holds a crucial place in the annals of World War II. In the lead-up to D-Day, German forces fortified this strategic promontory with heavy artillery, capable of devastating Allied landing forces on nearby Utah and Omaha Beaches. Recognizing the urgency of neutralizing this threat, the United States Army Rangers undertook a daring assault on June 6, 1944. Scaling the towering cliffs under withering enemy fire, the Rangers achieved the improbable, successfully seizing control of Pointe du Hoc. The cost was steep; casualties were high, but their bravery paved the way for the liberation of France. Today, Pointe du Hoc stands as a stark reminder of the sacrifices made during the Normandy Campaign. Visitors can explore the remnants of the German fortifications, including bunkers and gun emplacements, which bear the scars of battle.

40 min

Cider tasting is optional in the Tour. Indulge in a sensory journey at Ferme de la Sapiniere where centuries of cider-making tradition await. Nestled in the heart of Normandy, this historic cidery offers more than just delightful beverages; it's a portal to the past. Founded in the 16th century, this cider has stood witness to the region's rich history, including the tales of Château de la Percée, a nearby castle that once hosted noble gatherings. Today, as you sample their exquisite ciders crafted from locally grown apples, you're tasting the essence of Normandy's heritage. Savor each sip amidst the rustic charm of the cideries, where the art of cider-making has been perfected over generations. It's not just a tasting; it's an immersion into the soul of Normandy.

Best experience

Unbelievable experience. Thierry did a fantastic job. He was very informative. he also was able to read us and knew when to give details and when to just let us soak it in. My wife is not a WWII buff, yet she thoroughly enjoyed this tour & was mesmerized with the history. I was worried about the comfort of the side car and back seat of the bike. This ended up not being a problem at all. We were both able to get on/off and stay comfortable throughout the trip.

Great way to see the Normandy invasion sights

Thierry was very knowledgeable, included a number of locations on the tour, and took the back ways to show the countryside and avoid traffic. Great way to tour the Normandy/invasion beaches area.

A special kind of experience

We as a car or cyclist found it a special experience to ride the sidecar. My husband in the sidecar and me on the passenger. Thierry spoke good English and explained a lot. In a short time we saw a lot of Hohnfleur and Deauville and enjoyed a fast drive to a cider/calvados tasting. We are always safe and comfortable. We can highly recommend the tour.
