Brilliant cultural experience, Chi is a fantastic teacher and was very patient with me. The art room is surrounded outside with an abundance of beautiful plants. If you are in Sapa for a few days do this art class first so that you have time to dye your masterpiece before collecting it when you leave. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very good experience. My teacher was very friendly, I explain everything calmly and in detail. It has been very instructive and fun, I have learned a lot also about the culture and history surrounding the Batik. Recommended 100%.
Chi was fantastic and showed us the technique and allowed us to create two of our own items to bring back. I am not very crafty or artsy so to see the the batik pieces that I created was fun. So glad I took this class!
it was a fun experience during a very foggy boring day. the teacher was incredibly warm and funny. she was patient and shared with us anecdotes of the Hmong people which we really enjoyed while painting.
An interesting use of time on a foggy day. Good, not excellent. We expected to learn a little about Batik - its history and use in Sapa. But this wasn’t given, we managed to extract some information via questions towards the end. We assumed the instructor would be a specialist in Batik and may talk about their own experience and share examples of their own work. They appeared to be a trekking instructor, and did not have any examples of work which was a shame. We anticipated they would first demonstrate the technique before we had to try, and to be present to give guidance and tips through the experience. They didn’t and weren’t. We were given an IPhone of images to choose, a pencil and cloth and left to start. They were reading their phone and stepping away often from the table. They told us the end time was 30 mins earlier than the activity duration. They dyed the cloth - it would have been nice to do this ourselves. The wax stayed on, which I dont believe is the final product, as there was insufficient time. We were happy with our items but did feel we ran the activity ourselves and they could have been better with more tuition.
Dear valued guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate it, as it helps us improve the experience for future guests. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your final Batik pieces, though we are very sorry that the workshop did not fully meet your expectations. The Batik class is meant to be both educational and interactive, and it’s clear from your comments that we fell short in several important areas. Your feedback regarding the limited introduction to Batik history, the lack of demonstration, and the instructor not providing consistent guidance is extremely valuable. We understand how these elements are essential to a meaningful and enjoyable workshop. We are addressing this directly with our team to ensure instructors are better trained, more engaged, and able to share deeper knowledge about Batik culture in Sapa. We also apologize that you were not given the chance to dye the cloth yourself and that the timing of the activity was miscommunicated. These are not the standards we aim for, and we will improve the structure and clarity of the session so guests can participate fully from start to finish. Thank you again for your honest review. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a much improved experience. If you return to Sapa, please feel free to contact us directly — we would love to offer you a better and more complete Batik workshop. Warm regards,
What a bad experience. Terrible quality of the service. The woman leading the workshop wasn’t even there the majority of the time. At the end they lost our paintings and the ones that we received back after being coloured were terrible quality.
Dear valued guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you encountered during the workshop. Your comments regarding the host’s absence and the issues with your finished paintings are very concerning. This is far below the standard we aim to provide. We are currently reviewing the situation with our team to understand what went wrong and to ensure this does not happen again. We would appreciate the opportunity to make things right for you. If possible, please contact us directly with your booking details so we can assist you further. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We value your feedback and are committed to improving our service.
Absolutely amazing experience! We were warmly welcomed and offered complimentary drinks, then sat down to our practice stencils and then moved onto our own designs, we were given lots of guidance throughout and we left feeling relaxed and really grateful to have such a lovely souvenir <3
It was wonderful to paint using bees wax and create patterns onto fabric. Our teacher was lovely. Her English was limited so it was more along the lines of watch what she's doing and follow suite. There was not enough time to dye our art works, but she provided is the due and instructions to complete our works at home. It was definitely worthwhile if you love to create. Thank you
It was great to learn how to do the batik. It was not easy but after a while we got the hang of it. A local lady showed us how to do it. I would definitely do it again.
Mây is a really good and friendly teacher. I would definitely join this workshop again if I come back to Sapa. My best recommendations.
