A local guide will take you on a culinary journey through two of Barcelona’s most iconic neighbourhoods, the Gothic Quarter and El Born, where you’ll try nine traditional and modern tapas. Think patatas bravas, pimientos, fried fish, paella, and dessert, expertly paired with drinks such as wine, cava, Spanish vermouth, or non-alcoholic beverages if preferred. Along the way, you'll see important cultural sights from Roman ruins in the Gothic to the iconic Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar in Born. Since tapas are meant to be shared, this tour is ideal for families, couples, and especially solo travellers who might not otherwise get the chance to try a variety of small plates. Join your guide at Pl. de Correus, 1, next to Barcelona’s historic post office. Look out for the yellow Carpe Diem Tours flag or sign. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to start smoothly, as the tour begins right on time and refunds can’t be issued for late arrivals.
The Gothic Quarter is the heart of Catalan cuisine and a must for any foodie. Begin your culinary journey at a family-run tapas spot, tasting Spanish favourites like croquettes, patatas bravas, and pimientos de Padrón, each perfectly paired with a glass of local wine.
Family-owned since 1945, this bodega has been doing things the right way for generations. With just four tapas on the menu, it celebrates the simple, soulful essence of Spanish cooking. Just steps from the port, we’ll dine like sailors of old—sharing cones of crispy boquerones, tasting traditional Catalan butifarra sausage, and sipping from a porrón alongside a glass of Spanish vermouth. *Due to seasonal holidays, weekend availability, and weather conditions, we may not be able to go to this spot but we will compensate by ordering additional food at another stop or replacing this spot with another venue.*
We’ll wander through the city’s oldest neighbourhood and see former Roman walls and towers on our way to the next food stop.
Next, we'll head to the bohemian El Born where we'll wander down narrow alleyways to window-shop at artisanal shops and art galleries.
Discover the history behind tapas in the lively setting of a classic pintxos bar, inspired by the Basque Country then experience the tradition for yourself as you choose your own.
Before leaving El Born, we’ll stop and marvel at one of the most stunning basilicas in the city.
It's time for the grand finale: a savoury paella, a glass of bubbling cava, and a classic Spanish dessert.

Our tipsy tour guide was Lindsay and she was great! She took us to El Born and the Gothic quarter; stopped at 4 different places and had 3 drinks. I recommend doing this in the beginning of your trip in Barcelona.

Unfortunately though this event was highly recommended by other friends who did do it the previous year, we did not enjoy it to its full capability. First of all, our tour guide was late arriving, secondly, the group was fairly large (about 12-16) unless one was immediately close to the guide, it was impossible to hear what she was telling us. The absolute main reason for our disappointment was the food offered, which proved inadequate for the number in our group. The paella as the last dish was well over cooked and dry . For the second stop, there were insufficient number of plates and food to go round and waiting for more was necessary and rather unpleasant. Considering the per person cost this was in our opinion most unsavoury.

We loved this tour! Sky was our guide and was amazing. We did the 1:00 tour and had a group of 14. Sky had us all departing on time and onto our first location. She kept us entertained and under control. We went to 4 different restaurants and had so much food! Ended the tour with seafood paella. It was the perfect tour for my birthday and Sky went out of her way to make sure we had birthday apple pie! Would recommend this tour to all foodies!!
