Barcelona Food Tour: Tapas, Drinks and Delights with a Local

Description
Do Eat Better Experience Barcelona Food Tour is a walking tapas tour around the Gothic Quarter. You will be guided by a Local Expert who's able to explain every detail of the selected restaurants, their preparations, and any other relevant curiosities. Do Eat Better Experience tours are a mix of high-quality gastronomy as a way for showing local culture and lifestyle and a walking experience together with a local friend. This is the reason why we accept small groups only: we want to focus on a genuine exchange and give to each tourist the highest attention possible. Our food tour in Barcelona is a walking tour in at least 4 stops: we are going to stop in at least 4 different tapas bars and taste the best typical dishes and drinks of Barcelona! You are going to be guided by a local food expert, who will tell you curiosities about the local gastronomy tradition.

Itinerary
Join us for this 3-hours-long walking tapas tour in Barcelona Gothic Quarter! With the help of our Local Expert, you’ll pass by some of the most emblematic and iconic spots of the whole city and retrace the footsteps of celebrated artists, while tasting Spanish and Catalan culinary must-haves. Accompanied by our local food expert, you will be able to experience the true essence of “vermuteo”, savour traditional, delicious tapas with typical wines and indulge in one of the first desserts ever documented. Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may change according to the season and the availabilities of our partners.
You will start your culinary journey in Carrer de la Mercè, one of the most vibrant streets of Gothic Quarter, near which you can also admire the stunning omonymous basilica, dating back to the XVII century. Here you will visit one of the oldest still running tapas bars in Barcelona, where you'll taste a glass of local wine paired with various tapas, such as fried anchovies, tomato salad and "Pincho de Botifarra", a piece of the typical “pan con tomate” (bread spreaded with tomato juice) topped by a piece of sausage.
Let's continue our tapas tour in Carrer del Regomir. Nearby, we’ll enjoy a mix of delicious tapas such as the famous pan con tomate - freshly baked slices of bread with a tomato spread on top - pimientos del padron - small green peppers seasoned with olive oil - or the iconic potato tortilla. All of this will be accompanied by Cava, the “Spanish champagne”.
Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol is a small square behind the Famous Basilica de Santa Maria del Pi, but despite its more famous neighbour, this square is worth a visit, especially during the weekend, where an artists' market takes place and - if you're lucky enough - you can see them painting en plein air! In a tapas bar nearby, you will discover some of the best pintxos in town!
Plaça Sant Jaume is the administrative heart of Barcelona, where you can admire - but only from the outside - some buildigs like the city hall or the headquarter of Catalan governement. But Plaça Sant Jaume is famous also for another place: one of the oldest bakery shops in Barcelona! Here you'll taste Crema Catalana, one of the most famous desserts in the world and the official regional dessert as declared by the Catalan Institute of Cooking (lunch only). In the evening, you will enjoy a handmade ice-cream flavoured with local ingredients like turron!

5+ Etienne what an amazing tour guide! Easy to talk to, lots of good information along the tour and excellent food.
Excellent tour with Andrea, who is extremely knowledgeable and so gave us lots of interesting historical facts about the city, without making it sound like a history lesson. Great little extras, showing us sights others may miss. Would highly recommend.
Great experience! Thank you very much!
Andrea is a friendly foreigner who gives good advices. We love all tapas Bars
Andrea was great host! We had a great time!!
Andrea was very sweet! Knowledgeable and a wonderful story teller. Interesting to hear about how Catalonia is fascinated with poop and Christmas.
10/10. Etienne was a wonderful guide. We discussed local cuisine and history of the Gothic Quarter. Highly recommend!
We had an exceptional tour with Miguel focusing on Catalan dishes. Each stop on our walking tour had delicious food with insights into local culture. We enjoyed that these were not establishments that were commercialized and we would not have found such great places on our own. It was also great to learn about the history of the city as our guide, Miguel, was very knowledgeable and took the time to point out sights and details on the route. This was our first time in Barcelona and we would recommend this tour if you like food and immersing into the city.
Andrea was great! Loved our group and such a good way to get off the tourist traps.
Andrea was amazing! We had the best time. She was delightful and the tour was perfect. Great amount of walking and she was so welcoming! Would do this over and over again if we could.
