Bangkok Backstreets Food Tour with 15+ Tastings

Description
กินข้าวแล้วหรือยัง - It’s the Thai way to greet a friend - its literal translation is ‘Have you eaten rice yet?!’ There's no better way to highlight the importance of eating in Thailand in this food obsessed city. Our tour was carefully curated and will take you on a journey through the backstreets of Bangkok, mopping up a 15+ taster menu in street spots and eateries that have been serving locals for decades. We'll meet at Yaowarat to discover the rich Thai-Chinese culinary marriage that make this district one of the city's most buzzing street food spots. It's not just about the food though. It's about the people behind the plates who have dedicated their lives to cooking on the street.

Itinerary
Our feasting tour of 15+ tastings invites guests on a culinary adventure around the backstreets of Bangkok. We're Bangkok's #1 food tour on TripAdvisor. Over 20,000 guests can't be wrong. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed: ✘ Unsuitable for strict vegetarians, pescatarians and no-pork diets, due to limited alternatives at some vendors. ✘ Unsuitable for severe allergies, halal & celiac disease, due to risk of traces & cross-contamination. ✔ Suitable for lactose intolerances. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
Many are unaware of China's centuries-long influence on Thailand that has permeated much of Thai cuisine. From noodles to stir-fry, it's time to feast on the history of this culinary marriage. In small groups of up to 8 exclusive guests, our passionate foodie guides take you on a journey around the alleyways of Yaowarat, Bangkok's Chinatown. We don't want to spoil the surprises, but prepare to drool over crispy chive dumplings with nam jim jaew sauce, mop up rich satay with charcoal-grilled chicken, work chopsticks over slow-braised pork, and delve into fragrant steamy bowls of shrimp dumplings and poh taek seafood soup, along with a dozen more lip-smackingly good tastings at places you'd struggle to find alone.
The tour ends back at the start point, the Shanghai Mansion hotel, located along Yaowarat Road in all its neon glory. Enjoy local hospitality and meet new friends along the way. End the tour armed the knowledge you'll need to continue eating street food across Thailand.

Incredible experience! Our guide Bew was very knowledgeable and shared lots of stories. It was the highlight of my visit to BKK and I wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
We love Thai food, so on this 5 week trip we went crazy and did 5 food tours. First tour with this company was the day tour of the old town. Then we did 2x in Hanoi and one in Koh Samui and lastly last night we did the China town in Bangkok. We have the lovely JT who speaks great English as he is part Australian, part Thai and even extremely educated in Japanese. It was a great night with the perfect sized group of 8. good meeting point, in fact one of the better ones out of all of the as some of the others had been a bit noisy and hard to find. Easy to spot the staff with their chef tour shirt on. And yes you really do eat that much food. All was good and everyone enjoyed. Please do try everything and don't be shy to just try a bit so you don't get too full. No need to worry about taking water or wipes as all is provided. There were toilet stops and even could buy extra drinks at some places. A good mix of savoury and sweet. We have done many food tours over the last few years and by far chef tours have been the best. Super easy to book and pay and get information. Good guys that know their stuff, lots of history and knowledge about the places and food. But now i will give the tours a rest before I explode! We do look forward to some new tours apparently in the pipeline for next year.
We strolled chinatown's main street and hidden alleys for hours, having great food and a very informative guide. Enjoy eating like locals!
Really incredible start to our stay in Bangkok, totally worth it. The guides were amazing
Guides were great, looked after the group really well. Tastings were really good and varied. Great way to meet like minded people in a small group and enjoy the fun of the street food of Bangkok
We had a fantastic time with Noah and Muay (hopefully that’s the correct spelling). They were incredibly nice and knowledgeable about the food and the places we got it, as well as the history. We would definitely recommend getting the tour, as we went with our family of 5 and we had great fun.
This food tour was amazing!!!! Was great to do it with other travellers which made it a very enjoyable evening. Very well organised and planned throughout. Some food an absolutely loved, some I did t but that’s the whole point of these tours. Experience good you have never tried. Would absolutely recommend this tour.
Our guide Pang was wonderful - very funny and charming! The food was also fantastic, though some of the portions were a bit big and we had to pace ourselves to be able to try everything. This tour was such a cool way to explore the streets of Bangkok and try some things we would otherwise never know to try. Would definately recommend to other travelers!
What a great experience. We had some amazing street food in Chinatown and learnt all about out the food history of the area. Also went with kids and nothing was too spicy.
I had a wonderful experience on our food tour in Bangkok. Our guide, Tao was very engaging, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful throughout the entire tour. I was especially happy with the amount of different food spots sometimes hidden in the most inconsiderable places we went to which turned out to hide some of the most amazing and delicious restaurants. I also learned a lot about what we ate and Tao told us a lot of the history behind the food spots we visited. Really had to restrain myself from eating too much at each stop. Overall a 10/10
