Description
Have you ever dreamed of releasing baby turtles into the sea? Turtles come to lay their eggs in and around Puerto Escondido throughout the year. Without human intervention, however, only a few of these amazing creatures will survive into the days after they hatch. Participate in helping local organizations to preserve the turtles. We will pick you up at your hotel in the afternoon to arrive at our beach for sunset. There, you will participate in the release of the baby turtles in their natural environment. We will take you back to your home full of unforgettable memories!!!

At Playa Bacocho, just four kilometers from the main bay, you can do an exciting activity that is capable of moving everyone. It is about the release of newborn turtles. Every day at five in the afternoon during sunset we can support nature, when we arrive at the camp everything related to the liberation is explained, they give us the turtle just 30 minutes after it hatched, they lend you a gourd with it inside and you go to the beach to the finish line where you can release it and she will have to walk to the sea by herself .. Here is included the time it will take to get to the area where we will carry out the activity, from the passengers' hotels.

It was a great experience. We learned about the 4 species of turtles that the group releases. The turtles we released were dolphin turtles, which were the most common type in this part of the pacific ocean. This is a chill and relaxing activity. Pretty cool playing a part in releasing the turtles into their natural habitat. Staff was also vigilent to assit with keeping the birds away so that the process was a sucess. Great experience seeing the turtles race to the water. Very important to regulate the care to maintain the different species. A good informative talk before the release and how they patrol the night each evening. A 27km beach that was amazing. We chose an English presentation but Spanish also available. The van trip was a bit longer than expected since we waited for some people for over 15 minutes. Extremely inconsiderate on their part… nothing to do with the tour.

I had the opportunity to do this turtle release tour in Puerto Escondido and it was a beautiful experience. We arrived at the beach in the evening, explained the process and then each released some turtles to the sea. It was very emotional and special.. It is ideal to do it with your partner!!
