Pickup worked great. Maybe you'd better take a grave anyway; that's cheaper. The tour was well organized. There were clear instructions when to be where. It would have been nice if our guide Tina had said a little more about the temples. There came only a few general information, which was also in the tour description. But there was a beautiful sunset. There was water on the bus. And we were taken back to the shelter.
I'm actually in the shuttle now, just starting the tour. I travel a lot and do tours/excursions all around the world. I hate to leave bad reviews but sometimes it can't be helped. In this particular case, it's due to poor communication on the service providers part. This tour is meant to be half by land (Temples) & half by water (boat passings). Well, an hour into the ride to the 1st temple, our tour guide says, "Oh by the way, the boat portion (half the tour) of the tour will not happen because of high water from the storms. We will do an additional Temple instead." Completely disappointed. And it sounds like they've known this for some time. But instead of updating/announcing prior to purchasing the tickets. They let the guest purchase (Nonrefundable) the tickets then drop the news on them while in route to the temple. They know that if they update/announce the canceled boat ride, people will not purchase as many tickets. Thus losing money on sales. I definitely feel cheated and mislead. The advertisement via picture and written description says there's a boat portion to the tour, like half of the 8 hr tour. I started to leave 1 star but I'm really trying not to be completely cross with the provider. But still BETTER COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED please. Doesn't change the fact that I can't cancel my tour or receive a credit back because I'm already trapped in the tour bus.
I love history and this trip is very educational. I learned a lot from the tour guide. Thank you from everything
Very nice experience, the sunset behind the temples of Ayutthaya was beautiful! We could have had a little more details and explanations. Also we had paid for transport directly from the hotel and in the end we had to ask to be dropped off at the hotel otherwise they told us to take a taxi Other than that it was great we even had a snack on the boat what a treat!
It exceeded my expectation. The tour guide was pleasant and informative. The temples and the river ride were interesting. The only downside was that the tour started a little late and so we did not have time to stop for dinner before coming back to the city a little after 8 PM.
First of all, the tour started late. The bus was very late. On our way to our destination, the bus got into trouble with foul smelling tires. We were all coughing and suffered respiratory issues. The ride was very slow and we have to make a stop. I demand a refund. Precious time was wasted. We missed the highlights as everything was being rushed.
Bangkok can be a little overwhelming at times! This is a super tour to get out of the smog. Clearly the places seen in photos are of historical interest. Transport was clean and comfortable with plenty of leg space. Air Con was controllable for each seat. Our driver (Mr Charming - and charming he is) was super. Totally unfazed by turning a bus in the space required ordinarily by a car! 🤣 If you can… ask for Jum (aka Johnnie) to be your tour guide. He is brilliant. 👍 A masters student in tourism he hosts tours along side his studies at uni. Knowledgeable, excellent command of English (and differing senses of humour) and really super funny. He is self deprecating but in a charming way. I’ll never forget the 5 prime Buddhist covenants! 🤣 I cannot recommend him more highly. He had us all laughing. He made the tour. 🥰
It was ok, we met at the pickup hotel (Sheraton) and there was a small van that took us to Ayutthaya. We saw 2 or 3 sites there, ruins of the old city and temples. The guide did minimal explanation of the sites. Then the van took us to a pier in Ayutthaya, where we boarded a traditional boat that went down the river as we watched the sunset. That was the most enjoyable part. There was a small traditional dance performance on the boat (but not like the fancy picture that's advertised on viator, lol). The boat dropped us off at a waterfront restaurant for dinner. Dinner was good, lots of food choices, served in traditional plates. I think they had modified the dishes to fit the typical tourist tastes. I don't blame them but we had to ask for extra chili LOL. Overall, the restaurant was nice. Then the van picked us up and drove back to Bangkok, dropping people off either at their hotels or at the pick up location. We left around 13:30 and we were back around 20:00.
Guide had zero knowledge, zero ability to lead a group, or anything. Total waste of money and a whole day in Thailand. Would like a refund.
After paying extra for pickup from my hotel, and confirming pickup the night before via WhatsApp, they never showed up. After calls stating that, they told me driver is en route and second story was that driver was in an accident. They then told me I should take a cab to the beginning of the activity, and it would be covered by the guide. The guide had nothing to do with driver not showing up and I knew that I would have to pay taxi. Finally, by the time this occurred the tour began. I called Viatour and told them I want a refund
