Itinerary
Less than an hours drive North of Bangkok and just a few kilometers from Ayutthaya lies the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace. The original Palace was built by King Prasat Thong of Ayutthaya in the first half of the 17th century. When Ayutthaya was invaded and destroyed by the Burmese in 1767, Bang Pa-In Palace was left abandoned for almost a century.
The monastery was built in 1900 by King U Thong who granted the temple with the name Wat Pa Kaew. The intention was to create a center of Buddhist studies (Ceylonese Sect). As the temple used to be headed by a patriarch, local people also called it Wat Chao Phraya Thai.
The highlight of this temple is There is the largest reclining Buddha image in the island of Ayutthaya.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Thailand's ancient capital of Ayutthaya until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the capital and it served as a model for Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.

Wat Mahathat, “the temple of the Great Relic” was one of the most important temples in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. One of the temple’s most photographed objects is the head of a stone Buddha image entwined in the roots of a tree.

Hi Joy, We thank you for booking our Ayutthaya Tour and we appreciate your comments which we will pass on to the team. Regards, Nick
We have done the Ayutthaya Ancient Capital Tour with River Cruise & Lunch operated by Tour East. Overall it was a good experience. This tour includes BANGPAIN SUPMMER PALACE and please remember there is a strict dress code to enter the palace so read your tour instruction thoroughly. Tour guide was funny and tried to crack some jokes. Even though his English was poor and sometimes it was really difficult to understand what he was saying with his thick accent. It was a hot day he recommended an ice cream vendor during our visit to Wat Mahathat and it was really good!! The lunch menu was good in the boat. The authentic Thai foods never disappointed.
Thank you for the 4Star Review.
