Authentic Geisha Performance with Dinner in Tokyo

Description
Experience an authentic geisha performance with an elegant Japanese dinner, hosted by an English interpreter at a traditional ryotei (Japanese restaurant). The Geisha Experience with Japan Awaits is a 2-hour cultural dinner designed for a small group, recreating the traditional ozashiki (geisha gathering). Guests will enjoy performances by certified geisha (or geiko, as known in Tokyo) from renowned hanamachi districts such as Asakusa, Shinbashi, Mukoujima, or Omori Kaigan. The evening includes traditional dance, music, and meaningful conversations with geisha—facilitated by an English interpreter for a richer, more immersive experience.

We chose this experience to celebrate our anniversary while in Japan with our family. The food was excellent, and the geishas gave lovely performances. Although they did not speak much English, they were quite friendly and willing to speak to us through the translator provided. We also had quite a good time playing games with them. It was a wonderfully authentic experience that I would recommend to anyone who values true culture without all the phony bells and whistles.
This was the highlight of our trip in Tokyo! The Geishas were lovely. We learned so much and had a wonderful meal, entertainment and games. Our teens had a great time and didn’t want to leave!
Very authentic! Price was very fair . We did the private dinner for 8 of us and it was perfect. The ladies in our group rented kimonos and the geishas loved that we embraced their culture . Made for great photos. The staff that accompanied them ran everything very smoothly. The food and sake were fine for the price, but the experience was FANTASTIC ! Everyone went dressed to Golden Gai and finished the night.
excellent introduction to the classic Geisha dinner and experience. Food was delicious and the interaction with the 2 Geishas and their performance and games was entertaining! Local English speaking guide was very good interpreting and clarifying any questions we had.
What a wonderful experience! Our group of 7 had a delicious, traditional Japanese dinner while being entertained by two authentic geishas. We enjoyed their music and dancing, and played some really fun games. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Tokyo.
This was a special evening tha we had. It was great to learn all about the Geisha community and to have had the privilege to ask questions. We had a special Japanese meal that was delicious with dancing and music. Thank you for a lovely evening g into a very rare opportunity.
It's fancy, very annoying! Apparently, this has not been forwarded to you. When booking, implementation should be guaranteed.
Dear Juergen-san, Thank you very much for your interest in our Geisha Dinner Experience and for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate you choosing this experience as part of your trip. We would like to offer some clarity regarding how this particular tour operates. As stated clearly on the booking page, the Geisha Dinner Experience is offered on a pending approval basis. This is because the event requires a minimum number of participants, generally between six and eight guests, to confirm the venue, performers, and full kaiseki dinner. Until that minimum is met, all bookings remain on a waiting list, and confirmation is provided at least five days before the activity date. For your selected date, the number of participants remained below the required threshold. Once this became clear, our team contacted you promptly to explain the situation and to provide available options. These included switching to a private geisha dinner or receiving a full refund. You chose to cancel, and the full refund was processed immediately through Viator. All communication regarding the pending status and minimum participant requirement was shared in advance, and these same details are outlined directly on the tour page so that expectations are transparent for all guests. An authentic geisha dinner requires coordination with multiple partners, including the venue and the geisha house. Because of this, minimum numbers are necessary to operate the join in format. When the required attendance is not reached, the event cannot proceed in its standard format, and guests are offered alternative arrangements. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. We take all guest feedback seriously, and your comments support our continued effort to ensure that information remains clear and accurate for all future visitors. Our team remains committed to providing transparent communication and offering the best possible experience for every guest who joins our tours. Warm regards, Regina | Japan Awaits
We LOVED the experience and our Tour Guide, Hitomi Kohara was so nice and friendly!! Our Geisha, Yukon was so kind, happy, and friendly which made our experience even better!!! We will definitely tell everyone how wonderful and amazing the experience was!!!
It was a wise decision of us to book a Geisha-experience with kaiseki dinner right on our first evening in Tokyo. A better introduction to Japan is just unimaginable. The geishas performance was exciting and as a guest at our table she was very informative and entertaining. The dinner was delicious and the menu was utterly explained. Both the geishas performance as the kaiseki in the Sanshuya restaurant in Asakusa remained a gratefull memory through the journay and now back home. Ad & Lisanne, The Netherlands.
Fantastic worth every penny we paid. Learning about the Geisha’s tradition and ceremonies was so interesting. Food was flavoursm. Time chatting to Geisha one on one was fascinating. An experience we will never forget.
