Your tour starts at the AIS Visitor Centre, where you'll meet your guide for your immersion into athletics in Australia. Learn about sports in a hands-on way with Sportex, an educational and engaging sports experience where you can try wheelchair basketball, virtual downhill skiing, rock climbing, football penalty shootouts, and more. Sportex is included as part of every AIS tour. Try out a selection of interactive activities such as testing your accuracy, speed, and strength with the ball-skills tester or reaction timer, plus explore educational exhibits such as the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Heroes and Legends, and Sports Science. *Please note, Sportex is undergoing exciting refurbishments and will be closed from 23 June to 3 August 2025

Great family experience. It was great to see the facilities and learn about the training our athletes do. Loved the funny stories along the way. Our tour guide, a netballer, was lovely with bucketloads of natural charm.
Very informative and interactive and something for everyone. Booking the tour gave us a discount at the cafe also.
Tour was really well structured with 30 mins in the interactive area first then the individual sites. Tour guide knew lots of interesting information that he shared. Loved seeing the individual sport areas particularly the pool and all the information we were told.
The behind the scenes tour was amazing!, so much to see & learn. We got to sample virtual reality sports which was hilarious & great fun, our tour guide is a current athlete in training & knew the place inside out. We got to see our future Olympians working hard to perfect their skills, the cafe is well stocked & the coffee is good!.
It was a nice walk around and inside the buildings. Sierra(I hope I got the name right) did a great introduction towards the facilities, history, athletes and beyond! There was also an interactive session at the very beginning. You can try on different sports such as football, indoor bicycle etc. Highly recommended!
Great tour showing the AIS & all the sports that our Olympic athletes study at the institute. Very interesting!! I would recommend this tour everyone not only the sporty types 😊
A good way to spend a couple of hours to learn about the history of the AIS. The guide was very knowledgeable.

Wonderful tour! Our guide is currently an athlete at the AIS and was a wealth of knowledge. You get to see a fair bit of the place and if you’re lucky enough, some athletes might be training!
