Symbol of the city: The bridge connects downtown Auckland to the North Shore. It's very important for daily travel and the city's economy.
Westhaven Marina is the largest yacht marina in the Southern Hemisphere, located on the western edge of Auckland's city center in New Zealand. It has over 2,000 berths and is a popular spot for sailing, fishing, and other water activities. Many private boats and yachts are docked here. The marina offers beautiful views of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the city skyline, and it's easily accessible by foot or bike from downtown. In addition to mooring spaces, it also has marine-related services, cafes, and walking paths along the waterfront. It is managed by Auckland Council and is part of the city’s sustainable waterfront development plan.
North Head Historic Reserve is a scenic and historic site located in Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand. It sits at the entrance of the Waitematā Harbour and offers stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto Island, and Auckland city. North Head is known for its military history. It was once a strategic defense point, and you can still explore old tunnels and bunkers that were built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, it's a popular place for walking, picnicking, and sightseeing. Visitors can enjoy the grassy slopes, historic structures, and panoramic views. It’s also a great spot to learn about New Zealand’s coastal defense history.
Mount Eden, also known by its Māori name Maungawhau, is a dormant volcano located near the center of Auckland, New Zealand. It is the highest natural point in the city, offering panoramic views of Auckland and the surrounding harbors. At the top, there is a large volcanic crater about 50 meters deep, which is sacred to the Māori people. Visitors are not allowed to walk inside the crater, but there are paths around it for walking and sightseeing. Mount Eden is a popular place for both locals and tourists to enjoy nature, learn about Māori culture, and take in the beautiful city views. It’s also close to the vibrant Mount Eden Village, which has cafes, shops, and local charm.
The Wintergarden is a beautiful and historic greenhouse complex located in the Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park. It was built in the early 1900s and includes two elegant glasshouses — one for tropical plants and one for temperate plants. In between the two houses, there is a lovely courtyard with a pond and statues, surrounded by a formal fernery. The Wintergarden is a peaceful place to enjoy unique plants, relax, and take photos.
Holy Trinity Cathedral is the main Anglican cathedral in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in the suburb of Parnell and serves as the spiritual center for the Anglican Diocese of Auckland. The cathedral is known for its unique architecture, which combines traditional and modern styles. One of its most famous features is the large stained-glass window at the front, which beautifully reflects light into the space. Inside, the cathedral is spacious and peaceful, often used for church services, concerts, and special ceremonies. Visitors are welcome to look around and enjoy the calm atmosphere. It’s a place of worship, history, and culture — and a quiet retreat just minutes away from the busy city.

Tour guide was knowledgeable about the places I we stopped at but didn't talk about all the places we were passing. Would have appreciated more information. Also, no water provided. Long tour with nothing to drink.
The van that was used was not comfortable. The seats were not comfortable. There is a lot of walking.
Sam was good, but Viator needs to get their act together regarding bookings. We booked the morning excursion, only to receive a communication from the tour operator a few days prior to our excursion that the morning timeslot was overbooked and we were being moved to the afternoon tour. I went onto the Viator app and looked and it said that tours for the morning spots were still available in addition to the afternoon. I replied with the information I saw online only to be informed by the tour operator that they had no control over what Viator did. When I received my voucher from Viator a couple days prior to the excursion, the timeslots on the voucher said that I was confirmed for the morning tour. When I received meeting instructions from the tour operator the day before the excursion, I was told that I would be in the afternoon session. I went ahead and did the afternoon excursion, but one of the stops that was listed on the morning excursion was left out. All in all, it worked ok for me, but certainly not a five star experience, and it would have been a disaster if I had had other plans for the afternoon. This was not an isolated situation, as we were not the only party in our group who had experienced this scenario with Viator.

Great tour. Would highly recommend. Take water and any other refreshments with you as although there are opportunities for restroom breaks no access to purchase anything on the tour. Sam was very friendly and informative and filled our time in each stop with useful information. Also offering his skills as photographer. We felt we now have a much better understanding of not only Auckland but New Zealand in general.

The tour company and our tour guide was able to adjust from the standard pick up locations to pick me up at our hotel. Great job by our tour guide Sam To give us the background and context to everything.
