Brilliant experience. The ship was better equipped than we imagined and the bedroom was much bigger than we anticipated. The staff were great throughout, always smiling, and we enjoyed the cooking demo experience to make our own spring rolls. The views on the bay were super especially the sunrise and sunset, and the day trips to caves and beach and swimming off the boat were. Megan, manager on the day trip boat was very good and made a great tea! Mr Morning manager on the main ship was excellent and his staff did wonderful job. Excellent restaurant and bar, speedy service esp in the Happy Hour! We didnt expect to be able to be catered like that on boat with 40 people. Thoroughly recommended
We really enjoyed our Halong Bay Cruise, The boat was comfortable with good food and friendly staff. We went to visit caves and on the second day took a more private boat (with about 5 other people) to a deeper part of the Bay where we got to see even more of the beauty of this UNESCO site.
This was the highlight of our trip to Vietnam! Lovely staff, really good food, fun day activities and good happy hour cocktails. Definitely recommend the 2 night cruise for the extra money, it is worth it.
We had a wonderful time on the 2 day cruise, despite being very unlucky with the weather, it rained (like it does in London 😀). The Athena is a very high standard boat very comfortable and clean. The food was delicious (very 5 star) and plentiful. The staff are brilliant, especially the cruise manager (Mr Tim) and his number two (Mr Morning) who took us on the 2nd day trip on the day boat. They were so enthusiastic explaining about the sights of the bay, but also just chatting about Vietnam life and culture and asking about the UK. We were heading to Cat Ba after the cruise, and Mr Tim organised for us to be taken to the ferry terminal 20 minutes early to ensure we caught our ferry, and even took us and hailed a taxi for us. What great service!!! I would definitely recommend the Athena Cruise and the 2 night trip.
On our 2 weeks Vietnam trip we wanted to see the Halong Bay because it’s a recommended “must-see” We were unsure if doing only 2 day/ 1 night or 3 day / 2 night. We picked the 3 days finally because we wanted the time in the area and love cruising anyway. Conclusion : to see the Halong Pitons the 2 day- cruise is sufficient, because all the ships don’t go really far. And cruise around the similar area. there are Always at least some 8 to 14 other ships around. Be aware that there is no wifi on board Pick a cruise that goes off the touristy paths. We were on the Athena Luxury and loved it. The crew is absolutely organised and lovely. We felt perfectly welcomed and enjoyed everything. We were so surprised about how perfectly organised everything was. Also Food was far beyond great. Dinner is announced and dinner time at 19:00. Seated on Tables, prepared with country flags so everyone feels welcomed. Thanks to the staff, especially to Tonic, the spa therapist and the assistant cruise director Chien! Wow, They did such a good good job!!! We did not want to leave. Thank you so much !! Clear recommendation!
