The Temple of Minerva is an ancient Roman building. It currently houses a church, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, built in 1539 and renovated in Baroque style in the 17th century. The temple was built in the 1st century by will of Gnaeus Caesius and Titus Caesius Priscus, who were two of the city's quattuorviri and also financed the construction.

Erected in 1615 on the remains of a building believed to be the home of St. Francis. The building’s architecture design is from the Renaissance period. The façade, built of brick, is divided by four pillars supporting a Doric entablature, with attic gable, above which rises a hemispherical dome.

It's located 4km away from the center of Assisi. The white building nestles in a quiet lane surrounded by mountains. This is the hermitage of the Carceri where St. Francis and his followers were praying and meditating. "Eremo" means hermitage in Italian

San Damiano is a church with a monastery near Assisi, Italy. Built in the 12th century, it was the first monastery of the Order of Saint Clare, where Saint Clare built her community.

Built on a grandiose scale, the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli is the seventh largest Christian church. Its magnificence may be at odds with the simplicity preached by St Francis himself but the flocks of pilgrims coming to visit the primitive Porziuncola chapel and the Cappella del Transito called for a building that was able to accomodate the faithful.

A day with Saint Francis

This was an excellent day tour, highlighting the life of Saint Francis around Assisi, from his initial days, through his teaching and to his death. While the sites within Assisi were amazing, those outside the town were maybe even more impressive, because they reflected his deeper personality. The Hermitage was particularly moving. Our guide Michaele was knowledgeable, and he took care to tailor the tour to our own interests. AA++ day.

Thank you so much for this beautiful and detailed review! We’re truly glad you experienced such a meaningful day in Assisi, following the life and legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi. It’s wonderful to hear that both the city highlights and the more secluded places outside town left such a strong impression, especially the Hermitage, which is often one of the most emotional parts of the journey. We’re also very happy to know that Michele was able to adapt the experience to your interests and make the day feel personal and engaging.

Mysticism

Penultimate religious visit on a meditation tour: to think of this place in 1200, its "bed", its visions: for a believer it is to draw closer to his faith.

Gentile turista, non ha mai partecipato al nostro tour, forse voleva fare una recensione generica su Assisi ma evidentemente ha sbagliato ad inserirla.

A thoughtful and moving tour of discovery into the foundation of the Franciscan movement.

The entire trip was so deeply touching. It was a journey through Saint Francis's life and conversion. It also included a side trip to visit Blessed Carlos Acutis. My wife and I are believers with and affinity for Saint Francis. This was the main focus of our trip to Italy. Our wonderful guide, Alexandra made this so much more impactful. In addition, her knowledge of local customs, culture, and history contributed greatly to our wonderful experience in Assisi. It added much depth and understanding. We felt so welcomed. I might also add that she made our tour fun!

Assisi in the family

Must-see, the Porziuncola, Santa Chiara, the Basilica of San Francesco, the woods of San Francesco, we shot little because it was raining and we entered late, next time I hope to do it all but maybe in spring summer. Assisi is all beautiful there is nothing to say, the houses, the cleanliness of the city, while the character of the people....🤔 not really nice.
