Arusha National Park is the closest national park to Arusha town covering an area of 137 sq. km and is about 60kms from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The Park has a wide range of habitats, from the string of crater lakes where many water birds can be watched, through the highland montane forest and on up to the imposing summit of Mt. Meru. The interesting geology of the area is reflected in the impressive view of the ash cone and cliff face leading to the summit of Mt. Meru.

Pick up from your hotel in Arusha in the morning where you will be met by your guide. Enjoy a drive from your hotel to the Arusha National Park. You will spend the day in a private and 4x4 safari jeep customized for safaris and wildlife viewing. Your guide will make all the park fee payments at the gate and you will continue onwards to an enjoyable day exploring Arusha National Park including various sights, lakes and wildlife sightings. Be prepared with your camera to photograph a wide variety of animals. Some of the species that live in this park include zebra, giraffe, buffalo, warthog, monkeys, flamingo and various other birdlife. Your guide will select a special area to stop for lunch. After lunch you will continue with a game drive and thereafter return back to your hotel in Arusha. We had a wonderful safari with the best guide we could have imagined. Masatu had 17 years’ experience and knew all the best spots for spotting animals. He also took our needs into account (such as toilet stops) and was more than happy to answer all our questions about the animals. We had an outstanding experience with Takims Holidays. They arranged an excellent professional guide, Nixon, who gave very knowledgeable explanations about the animals and knew exactly where to find them so that we could take amazing photos. He was extremely friendly and warm, and made us feel very well taken care of throughout the entire trip. All the transfers and transportation services were organised in a very professional way. Excellent and very organized tour operator. Our driver Nerek was just the best! His English was excellent and he was very knowledgeable on Arusha, animals, landscape, etc. He was always on time with a smile each morning. Our accommodations were awesome from safari lodge, bougie tented camp, mobile tent, and farmhouse.... a little bit of everything which we loved experiencing. We did the tree walk which was a nice stop to get out of the jeep and stretch out legs. We loved the Datoga Tribe and Hazabe Tribe tours. For the Hazabe Tribe, it was the highlight for two of my boys. I would note that while we loved it, to inform your decision please note the hike was 5.5 miles in a rugged terrain so wear appropriate clothes, shoes, and bring water. Highly recommend this operator.

Masatu picked us up at our hotel right on time. The vehicle was clean. He had water and a boxed lunch for us. We had a great conversation on the way to the national park. The Park was exceptional. We saw so many animals and Masatu what is wonderful about staying in one spot as long as we wanted to take a picture or video. It didn’t matter how long we needed to stay there he was happy to apply. If he felt he could get a better view somewhere else he would let us know. We saw zebras, giraffes, baboons, monkeys, flamingos, bush bucks, and lots of birds. The park is gorgeous. It was absolutely amazing to see baboons grooming each other, and playing right in the street. My husband loves to stand up with his head out of the top of the vehicle, and look around. If you are short like I am, that can be a little bit of an issue. But I enjoyed having the windows open with a cool breeze blowing through and being able to see the animals in certain circumstances.

We had a great time on our 4 day safari/honeymoon trip, and would highly recommend Takims Holiday. We felt so good looked after.
