Must Do!

This trip was more than I even expected it to be! It was a long day, and due to the recent rains, road conditions, and traffic, it was extra long. However, it was so worth it. Ben picked me up in the morning. I had been on his tour the prior day, so we already knew each other. As I was the only one on this one, he asked if I wanted to make any modifications, as it was originally booked for the Cape Coast and Canopy Forest Tour. Because I'm afraid of heights, I mentioned it, and he suggested the Ancestral Slave River. When we arrived, I was immediately taken by the calmness of the site. Despite the history of the place, it was quiet and allowed for a lot of reflection. I appreciated the information that was shared and the stillness. From there, we visited Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, where I was given private tours where I could ask any questions I had; I didn't feel rushed, and the guides were so knowledgeable. The chilling feeling that I got hearing about the atrocities that were committed at both sites for hundreds of years is something I will never forget. Ben was helpful in navigating the whole experience, answering all of my questions, and showing me a really powerful day. I highly recommend this trip!

Ancestral Tour to Assin Manso, Elmina and Cape Coast honest review

The private Ancestral Tour to the Slave river, Elmina and Cape Coast was a life changing experience. As a Jamaican, I wanted to find out more about my ancestors past and this tour did exactly that. I would 100% recommend it.

MUST DO!

Amazing tour and I highly recommend it! I've been to Ghana 3 times and this is the one tour I do each and every time! It's definitely the best option if you don't want to do the hike at Kakum National Park and want to focus solely on the journey of our ancestors. Every black person in the world needs to experience this if you ask me. And Big Ben and his team make the journey incredibly special!

A Tour Company with Heart – Highly Recommend! (Traveled Dec 2023 & Sept 2025)

A Tour Company with Heart – Highly Recommend! (Traveled Dec 2023 & Sept 2025) I have now travelled with Bigbentours1gh on two separate occasions—once in December 2023 and again in September 2025—and each experience was nothing short of outstanding. This is not just a tour company; it is a purpose-driven destination management service dedicated to providing quality cultural, historic, adventurous, nature, and educational tours for families, groups, institutions, and solo travellers. Whether you want to explore Accra, venture to Cape Coast and Elmina, or immerse yourself in the heritage of Kumasi, Ben and his team deliver an exceptional experience every time. What truly sets Bigbentours1gh apart is their deep knowledge and passion for Ghana’s history and culture. Our guide, Ben, was warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and made every site come alive with his stories and insights. One of the most unforgettable highlights was the traditional naming ceremony they arranged for me—I was given my very own Ghanaian name in a heartfelt, authentic ritual that made me feel truly welcomed and connected to the land and its people. It was a deeply moving experience I will treasure forever. The tours were well-organized, and the team was attentive to our group’s needs, making us feel less like clients and more like family. Clean, safe vehicles and great food choices added to the overall comfort—and I can confirm the same high standards were maintained across both trips. Beyond the excellent tours, what resonates with me most is their core mandate: to support the needy in the rural areas they visit through tourism. It is rare to find a company that so genuinely gives back to the communities it showcases. This commitment to social responsibility makes every tour feel meaningful, and it was heartwarming to see the positive impact firsthand during both my visits. From the “Homecoming Experience” to the “Beauty, History and Culture of Accra in a Day,” every itinerary was thoughtfully curated. They even accommodated a special request for a night tour of Accra, showing their flexibility and dedication to guest satisfaction. If you are looking for an authentic, educational, and heartwarming experience in Ghana and Togo, look no further. Bigbentours1gh is a Travellers' Choice award winner for good reason. Thank you, Ben and team, for two unforgettable journeys and for reminding us that travel can indeed make a difference. Rhoshell Baker
