App/tour SUCKS

What a waste! I rarely have opportunities to get my teenage boys to participate in family activities anymore, and I blew it on this crappy scavenger hunt. It was rife with glitches; I signed in on the app and created our group, and first it said to do a group photo and then it somehow took it randomly without me even clicking the shutter, and when I tried to go back to try and retake it, I accidentally closed the app and I couldn't get back in on the tour I had created! Fortunately I had already assigned my husband and one son to roles, so my husband was able to take the photos and answer the questions and I wasn't able to see any of it. I tried to log in again but there was no option to rejoin the group, only start over but then it didn't give me the option to use my voucher again. My son gave me the code to just add myself into the group as the fourth person, it said I didn't have any tickets left! But only three of us had joined and I bought four tickets! Plus it says it's a 2-hour walking tour, but it took us less than an hour. I also thought there would be interesting things to learn about the different scavenger hunt locations, since it's a self-guided tour, but no, there were only instructions to take pictures and sometimes a question that could be answered by looking at the building. But this was not fulfilling at all. And, I chose this scavenger hunt because it said I would get the pictures at the end of it. Well, since I couldn't get back into it, there is nothing I got at the end of it, not even an email. This was 100% disappointing, and clearly false advertising that they're the #1 app. This doesn't even work.

Operator response

Hi Freedom, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very sorry to hear that what should have been a fun family outing turned into such a frustrating experience, especially when it's not often you get the chance to get your teenage boys involved in a family activity. The issues you described—being unable to rejoin your group after the app closed, the unexpected photo behavior, ticket recognition problems, and not receiving your photos—are certainly not the experience we want our customers to have. We also understand your disappointment that the hunt felt shorter than expected and didn't include the historical information you were hoping to see. We'd like the opportunity to investigate what happened with your hunt, review your ticket usage, and see if we're able to recover your photos. Please reach out to us at support@letsroam.com with your booking details, and our team will be happy to look into everything and work with you toward a resolution. Thank you again for your candid feedback. We truly appreciate it, and it helps us continue improving both our app and our scavenger hunt experiences.

Failure

The worst scavenger hunt we've ever done... To start with, Sacramento isn't exactly the prettiest city, which is probably because of the many homeless people. Nevertheless, we thought that this experience would show the beautiful side of the city. The first problem started with the app. How to redeem the tickets was explained differently than it actually works. We also made the mistake of buying two tickets, but I'll come to that in a moment. On site, the app often showed the wrong location, so we started the game behind City Hall. A second ticket for the same price(!) only meant that my friend could read along on her cell phone. She couldn't answer any questions herself. Because if she did, she answered the question for both of us. So as a tip for buyers, one ticket is enough for the whole group, then the cell phone is passed around. About half of the tasks consisted of taking photos with the monuments... The other half was answering questions about the monuments. We assumed that the answer to these questions would be found somewhere on the monuments, but no such luck. You probably have to google them a lot. The solution isn't explained much either. This scavenger hunt is quite disappointing. We only managed to complete it for about an hour.

Scavenger Hunt

Entertaining hunt. Educational and enjoyed by teenagers. The walk was longer than mentioned by the app but not too long. Plenty points of interest to pause at along the way.
