We take you to the enchanting village of Giethoorn in the north of the Netherlands for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Known as the "Venice of North," the village is notable for its many canals and complete lack of roads. You will explore the fairytale village, where less than 3,000 people live, on a 1-hour guided boat tour. Experience the scenery on a leisurely trip through the canals. Explore the preserved village on foot, and see how each farmhouse is built on a small man-made island. Wander the narrow footpaths to discover hundreds of bridges, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
Your last destination is to explore the most picturesque traditional 17th-century village where houses and a collection of beautifully preserved windmills from the nation’s industrial heritage. In the Zaanse Schans village, you can stroll past the charming greenhouses and visit a factory where the clogs popular in this part of the country are made. Learn how they produce world-famous Dutch cheeses as well.

We were booked to go on this tour to leave at 8am Saturday morning, and received a text at 2pm the day before to say this tour had been cancelled. We were not in wifi area at the time, and by time we arrived back in Amsterdam, and found out, all the tour offices were closed. It was very upsetting to have this cancelled, at this late stage, and luckily I was able to book the tour with Viatour. This was the first time I had used Get your Guide/Xalam tours and I am not sure I have the confidence in this company to book again.
