The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.

The Anne Frank House (Dutch: Anne Frank Huis) is a writer's house and biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank. The building is located on a canal called the Prinsengracht, close to the Westerkerk, in central Amsterdam in the Netherlands. During World War II, Anne Frank hid from Nazi persecution with her family and four other people in hidden rooms at the rear of the 17th-century canal house, known as the Secret Annex (Dutch: Achterhuis). She did not survive the war but her wartime diary was published in 1947. Ten years later the Anne Frank Foundation was established to protect the property from developers who wanted to demolish the block.

Great day out

Wonderful visit to the museum. A must do in Amsterdam. Learnt so much about his life and inspiration, his brilliance and his madness. To see his famous works in person was amazing. The cruise despite negative reviews is very straightforward and easy to walk to. It was a wonderful cruise and very informative. Would recommend this package.

Pass the queue and take your time

So many selfportraits I hadn't seen before. A vulnerable artist with revolutionary use of colours made a strong impression. So sad he didn't live longer. And thanks God his relatives loved him and his works so we can look at them nowadays.

I didn’t know that there...

I didn’t know that there wasn’t an official meeting place. I expected it to be a tour, however, once we figured that we were on our now , it was perfect

Museums good. Details bad.

It’s very confusing. It says your meeting place is at the museum but the people who work at the museum have no clue what you mean when you ask about a canal cruise. The details of the canal cruise are buried in the details of the booking so be sure to read. You will have to walk about half a mile to find the canal cruise. I wish someone would have told me that. We got lucky in that we found the name of the boat company and googled how to walk there.

Somewhat disappointed

None of Van Gogh’s major works were present. no starry nights, irises, or sunflowers. Mostly self portraits and history of his troubled life.

No guided tours on the boats

Nothing to criticize about the museum. I was not satisfied with the boat excursion because I expected a lot from the guided tour; however, the equipment was of very poor quality, and there were false contacts that prevented us from hearing the commentary. This situation seemed normal to the company staff: No apologies on this matter and no plans for improving the equipment!

The museum was...

The museum was extraordinary however there were no directions on how to use the cruise. Consequently, we weren’t able to take advantage of that opportunity..
