A friend recommended this and I'm so glad. I'd never heard of it, didn't see it advertised anywhere and it was absolutely brilliant. It's a short experience (although we doubled up our booking with a canal cruise from outside afterwards). First of all you move from room to room, watching short films about the history of Holland, specifically its relationship with water and the weather. If geography isn't your thing (it's not mine), I promise it's much more interesting than you expect. It's also short and all presented by a rather lovely Dutch woman (with English subtitles and I think other languages available via a QR code). What this all builds up to is a 5D simulated flight across the Netherlands, that is a very sensory experience. It all feels very realistic and it was absolutely exhilarating. We loved it. It takes about an hour in total. I thought the experience was quite reasonably priced. You access it via a ferry by Centraal station. Ferries are every few minutes, take only a few minutes to cross to Amsterdam Noord and are all free. Highly recommended. There is the option of a canal cruise after, which we did. Informative and entertaining - our captain was Dexter and he was a great guide; funny too. We toured canals and open water for 75 minutes, taking in lots of places of interest and hearing lots of Amsterdam's history. We got dropped back where we started and, from there, there are other places to visit nearby or you can just get the free ferry straight back.
It is a fun times for all ages to learn and see the beauty of Holland. This is a 3 stage production, saving the best for last!
I had the Iamamsterdam card and entrance for this was included. The entry fee is 24 euros and I am going to base my review off this. The 5D flight itself was brilliant. Really enjoyable. You will think you are going to fall off a few times and close your eyes thinking you will be hit a few times and there are other special effects with smell and water added also. Before you get into the actual flight there is a little bit of filler beforehand where they put you in rooms and there is films about the importance of water to the Dutch and they go through some maps of the Netherlands aswell. This is all just building to the 5D Flight. For a one-off visit I would say that yes it is probably worth the entry fee, especially if you dont know what to expect from the 5D Flight because it really is a surprise. You have to get a ferry from the back of central station over to Buiksloterweg but it is free and only takes 3/4 minutes and there are two ferrys constantly working over and back.
This experience was okay. You move through two rooms and watch videos of the history of the Netherlands. All is in Dutch with subtitles. When you do the flying experience if you get motion sickness don't. The experience you fly over the Netherlands seeing various tourist attractions and parts of the Netherlands. You can smell the tulips and there is a lite spray of water. It was an experience but I probably wouldn't go back. Got the discount by purchasing the ticket for both the experience and the look out next door
The flight was so amazing. The smells, the view, the history. The experience was fun, educational and relaxing
Very nice very nice you just don't have to drink coffee there you only taste the milk and see if your change is correct and again very nice
It was a breathtakingly beautiful adventure where we learned a lot about the history and water history of the Netherlands. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only downside were the toilets, which were unfortunately quite dirty.
Overall a nice experience, from start to finish. Easy check in and very simple instruction to follow. The pre show is very informative, also other languages are available to listen to the video using the app. The ride is quite long around 5-10 mins of flight, again lots of sights, smells and sounds, overall a very good ride to experience landmarks in Holland in a fun way.
This is Holland 5D experience is really awesome. Everyone who goes to Amsterdam please take time to see this visually thrilling ride.
Thanks to this experience, we added several elements to our trip: discovering the free ferry to easily and quickly get to the other side, a better understanding of this friendly country and its history, a fun and dynamic moment with a quick and intense discovery of the main sites in the country.
